Who's switching on your local Christmas lights?

I went to see Diva Fever from X Factor (as if I need to tell you) switch on our local lights last night.

They were late, were a bit rubbish and only did 2 songs.

DD (7) was completely underwhelmed and asked during their performance if she could go home.

So who's switching on your town's lights, are you going, or have you gone to see them, and were they worth standing about in the cold for?

Olly Murs.

SuePurblybiltByElves · 21/11/2010 17:19

Phil Jupitus or Newton Faulkner (between two towns). Poor Phil will get some culture shock Grin

mamadiva · 21/11/2010 17:21

Diva Fever... I have been plagued by dirty dreams about them since they got kicked off Hmm

We have nothing exciting here but all the local school's and nurseries did a concert in the town centre last night, the schools do a competition throughout the year to see which child would turn on the lights, this happens every year. It's quite good as it's a different child and school every year :)

Better than crappy celebs :o

cordonbleugh · 21/11/2010 17:21

Chesney Hawkes did ours yesterday Grin

KatyMac · 21/11/2010 17:22

Don't know (Steve Cram maybe?) But DD danced!!

sharbie · 21/11/2010 17:22

titan the robot was in town yesterday

Wilts · 21/11/2010 17:23

Well we have been unofficially twinned with Walt Disney world Hmm so our event was based around Disney. Ds2 was completely unimpressed.

It had been really hyped up and was rubbish, our lights our shameful, with one end of town not even having any.

wallababy · 21/11/2010 17:31

John ADELEYE.

Good job we have light switch ons, otherwise, what on earth would all the x factor contestants do?!!!

nymphadora · 21/11/2010 17:32

Queen Victoria ..,

gregssausageroll · 21/11/2010 18:21

Dingo Dave from our local radio station but in the town next to us it was Stavros Flattley!

TeeBee · 21/11/2010 18:42

Dr Neil Fox (from Pop Idol) - he lives in our village. But I hear Frank Lampard is buying a house in the village, so things might pick up next year (sorry Dr Fox).

muggglewump · 21/11/2010 18:44

If I'd known earlier I have taken DD to see them too. (Diva Fever)

goodmanners · 21/11/2010 19:07

Becky from corrie is or has switching/ ed our on - hardly making me want to rush for that fame fest!

chatee · 21/11/2010 19:12

another ex from x factor and a blue peter tv presenter did ours and my dd even had her photo taken...ds was laughing at all the screaming teenagers shouting
"I love you" it was quite funny as ds is only 6

XboxWidow30 · 21/11/2010 19:24

We have got Katy from I Can Cook on CBeebies switching on in the next town. Not sure about our nearest town.

EduStudent · 21/11/2010 19:24

Fireman Sam Hmm

whomovedmychocolate · 21/11/2010 19:25

Umm somebody from Coronation Street. No idea who, female, looks a bit rough.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 21/11/2010 19:28

Darren Bent here. And Cain & Marlon from Emmerdale in Durham.

ItsJustMyOpinion · 21/11/2010 19:35

We got father christmas switching ours on next week. we will be going along and taking dd as it will be her first time of "meeting" him. She will get a chance to tell him what she wants from him, although due to politicaly correctness, she will have to sit on a chair next to him, not his lap!! Then there will be a lantern parade prior to the lights being switched on. I love the whole experience :)

CMOTdibbler · 21/11/2010 19:41

Not sue if its the Youth Mayor (the youth council organise the lights going on do) or Toyah (who lives here and is v obliging with opening things)

abgirl · 21/11/2010 21:41

We had Katy from I Can Cook in our town yesterday (she must be doing the rounds this year), and she was excellent. I don't think I've ever seen so many little kids having such a good time, and she got an entire crowd singing Jingle Bells (not a mean feat in our rather depressed town :() Also had Santa and Cinderella there - DSs were most impressed...

Ilythia · 21/11/2010 21:44

'Santa' supported by Boogie peteHmm

ceebeegeebies · 21/11/2010 21:50

Diana Vickers here (but it is her home town so I feel she might be an annual fixture for her now Grin)

tallwivglasses · 21/11/2010 22:24

Some actress from Corrie in her panto attire and the bloody Churchill dog.

Grim.
