Anyone else not ready for christmas AT ALL?

Ilythia · 14/11/2010 09:36

Because I can't even think about it until the end of term (am a student)
So far have bought 2 annuals from the charity shop for dd's and have some fruit soaking in the kitchen for a cake, which I suddenyl realised I have to make this year.

Apart from that, nothing.

Come and join me in a 'meh' thread. Our christmas will be just as good as all those prepared people's, it just won't take as long Grin

Sil informed me yesterday they are coming to us in 2 weeks to drop pressies off and for a pre Xmas get together as they go away early this year!!!

I have no idea what to get them or my nieces!! Will need to organise their stuff first

Ilythia · 14/11/2010 09:43

Oh I know, my family keep phoning me and telling me what they have bought DD's and asking what they can get DH. I don't know!
We are seeing my family early in december as we are spening christmas at fil's so I need to sort them as well. And that's 2 sisters, 1 brother, 2 BIL,s and my mum.

I just asked DD's what they want to get a heads up. DD1 (4.11) wants a hello kitty scooter that we saw in teh shop yesterday, doable.

DD2 (3.1) wants pound coins and a treeHmm

I haven't bought a single present.

I haven't even thought about Christmas dinner -although I imagine we'll order a turkey from the local butcher the day before Christmas Eve as usual (think he puts one aside for us nowadays as he knows I'll be in in a panic!)

I don't think we've anyone coming to join us but I do need to check with mum that she's deffo staying at home this year.

I have, however, decided what I want dp to buy me (although there are about eighteen different things and if I'm lucky I;ll get one so I have some culling of the list to do)

I haven't asked the children to do a list so don't know what they want

I think I'm p'raps the least organised Christmas person Grin

Sadb · 14/11/2010 09:46

I haven't got anything and it is filling me with dread. Off into town in a minute to try and get a few bits. Having no spare cash is a huge problem though.

I have sort of decided we are having beef for christmas lunch, but then I am cooking at FIL's so have started thinking about that earlier as it will involve getting ingredients/stuff from ours to his etc.

Suddenyl realised on phone to SIL yesterday that I need to sort him a stocking as well

I would like to say I'm almost ready

but by that I mean

I have advent calenders

I got pissed one night and bought the xmas presents I thought they should get on ebay

they arrived

they are still in boxes

ao no, I'm not ready Grin

cryhavoc · 14/11/2010 09:55

But there are still 6 weeks to go. There's no need to be thinking about it yet, let alone worrying.

I am a last minute person, and it's always fine.

Ilythia · 14/11/2010 10:08

Ah but trin, they are paid for and in the house
Surely all you need to do know is wrap the boxes they came in and you are done?
And I have never bought advent calendars before advent?!
I'm not entirely sure you should be on this threadGrin

OP posts:
Ilythia · 14/11/2010 10:08

to do now. ugh. sorry

OP posts:
Ilythia · 14/11/2010 10:10

I know cry, it's just from now MN will turn into a super smugfest of who is the most ready, or the bestest tree etc and I want a little space to hide with likeminded procrastinators.

My friend went to see the christmas lights turned on the other day. It's november ffs.
(and she better not appear on this thread, her and her 7 christmas cakes that have already been made...Grin)

OP posts:
TrinityTheTwattyRhino · 14/11/2010 10:12

but can I just say, I'm not sure whats in the boxes AND I cant just wrap them as is as there are more than one thing in each box and probably not for the same kid

can I stay now?? Grin

pozzled · 14/11/2010 10:16

Well I have DD's presents, so perhaps I shouldn't be on this thread! But I have done nothing else and don't intend to for a good few weeks yet.

GypsyMoth · 14/11/2010 10:21

I think I should be organised more...... Have just made a list after seeing this thread earlier

I have 5 kids.......

Dd1 is 16 and wants a Pauls boutique bag, £60. And they are hideous

Ilythia · 14/11/2010 11:54

Ugh, BIL's gf has a paul's boutique bag, it is soooo grim, even dd's think so.

Trin, you can stay I think, and you too pozzled, purely for having the right attitude (that it is november, so feck it)

Usually by now I have a lot of my pressies but just havn't had the money to do it this year. I do have a couple of books and some sea monkeys and last night ordered three things online. Oh and I got a pressie for my bro yesterday of a remote control racing car with the Stig in which is very very apt for him

BF has just started a new job so hopefully things will pick up.

Blackduck · 14/11/2010 12:07

me...haven't bought a single thing and have no ideas.....

strandedatseasonsgreetings · 14/11/2010 12:12

I think I can stake a place here.

We are moving back to the UK from the other side of the Atlantic on 19 december, arriving on 20th December. We will therefore have 5 days to organise our entire Christmas. We are going to try and order the dd's main presents online in advance and get them delivered to a friend's house. But other than that we won't have done much.

Not sure where we will spend Christmas day yet but if it is at home I guess we will be eating whatever is still available.

2cats2many · 14/11/2010 12:19

Do I have to be? After all, its only mid-November... There's loads of time for panic buying yet.

Ilythia · 14/11/2010 13:41

God no, I don't want to be more organised, I just get worried when everyone around me starts announcing how they have 'finished' everything for christmas weirdos

well i have bought the presents for both DDs but that is it.
am normally a home baking, handmade decorations christmaszilla. however i now have an unputdownable newborn. i think this year every will get an amazon voucher, and we shall eat turkey pot noodles.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/11/2010 14:21

I am in no way even 1/10 on the way to being ready. Went on a shopping trip recently and came back with practically nothing. I do have plenty of christmas cards as I was convinced I hadn't bought any yet and so now have double Hmm

it wouldnt be so bad if I only needed to be ready by Christmas day itself but we are doing a presnet swap with some in maybe a coupl of weeks (not even set the date) and also have international stuff to get and post.

with the rest of life being nutzy and me feeling particularly rough atm I wouldnt mind postphoning Christmas until Easter.

But we must always remember

asdx2 · 14/11/2010 14:28

I've bought my first present from Amazon today (kindle) and have doubled up my Tesco rewards but that's my lot. Mind you it's only mid November and I work better under pressure and it wouldn't be the same if I wasn't still wrapping gifts at 3am Xmas day Grin
