Oh holy night, fairytale of new York and another one that I don't know the name of.

rnbsmum · 13/11/2010 20:43

As a music teacher I LUUUUURRRRVE every Christmas song pretty much. But... my favourite is Have yourself a Merry Little Christams - particularly when you hear it at the end of "Meet Me in St Louis". Welling up just thinking about it ......

rnbsmum · 13/11/2010 20:45

Well now dolce - at the risk of sounding smutty Wink - we did this with my school choir last year and the "faaaaall on your kneeeees" moment gets me every time! Welling up again!

taffetacat · 13/11/2010 20:48

Zat you Santa Claus by Louis Armstrong. DC adore it. DS(7) does a great impression of it.

Linnet · 13/11/2010 20:52

Jellykat · 13/11/2010 21:01

Greg Lake "I Believe in Father Christmas", nice and dark!

Fairytale of New York is a cracker though (boom Boom! Grin)

i like loads of them but really love the cheesy Same Old Lang Syne by Dan Fogleberg also like Caledonia by Frankie Millar as its very Hogmanayish

thefentiger · 13/11/2010 21:38

All I want for Christmas -Mariah Carey.
I used to sing it sniff to unborn DD1

MrsColumbo · 13/11/2010 21:58

It was the Waitresses who did Christmas Rapping - my favourite, too Smile. Agree with the poster who hates Santa Baby - creepy and makes my teeth itch.

marriednotdead · 13/11/2010 22:00

Another vote for Greg Lake. Christmas officially starts when I hear it on the radio, won't play it myself until after that.

One year I had to wait 'til Christmas Eve, was driving up to my sisters grinning but with tears in my eyes.

I am clearly nuts Blush

Greg Lake, and Jona Lewis

Judy Garland "Have Yourself..." but only if I've watched Meet Me in St Louis first.

jellybeans · 15/11/2010 11:54

Fairy tale in New York
Buy embarrassingly also like the Boney M one and When a Child is born (not sure of the singer to this)Blush

TheFowlAndThePussycat · 15/11/2010 12:02

I was Christmas shopping the other day & they were playing the song from Nightmare Before Christmas when Jack finds Christmas Land, you know the one that goes, 'what's this?' I love it! I felt like a kid again.

Someone's going to come along & tell me what it's called in a minute. It's probably called, 'What's this?' Grin

TrinityTheTwattyRhino · 15/11/2010 12:05

fairytale of new york, no question

GMajor7 · 15/11/2010 12:31

Driving Home For Christmas - Chris Rea.

I've gone out in the car on Christmas Eve just so that I can drive back with it playing. Fab.

...top to toe in tailbacks dum de dum
I got red lights all anround dum de dum

You get the picture...

I've got a couple of gigs coming up around Christmas and I'll be singing around 70 Yuletide hits - can't wait Smile

chihiro · 15/11/2010 12:42

Not a song but absolutely adore Victor Hely-Hutchinson's Carol Symphony - the third movement is best known as the music from 'The Box of Delights' (to those of us of a certain age) and it is just the most spine-tingly Christmas piece, but the rest of it is fab too. I love playing that CD at Christmas.

My favourite carol is It Came Upon the Midnight Clear, but I also get a rush of eighties nostalgia for Wham's Last Christmas.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 15/11/2010 12:47

Fairy tale of new york without a doubt. Carol would be deck the halls or good king Wenceslas. DD does a cracking rendition of 'away I'm so mangy'.

Littlepurpleprincess · 15/11/2010 14:04

It is called 'What's this?" thefowlandthepussycat
