What's on YOUR Christmas list?

Each year my Mum asks my sis and I what we would like from her for Christmas. Now that I'm married, MIL does the same - and so do DH and sis. So I need to write a list - just a few things and nothing pricey.

Anyhoo, I was wondering...what's on your wish list this year?

Taking it as these are meant as gifts for you, what about makeup, perfume, some cashmere tights (not the £££ ones.

If I were asked what gift I'd like for Xmas .....Id say a julien mcdonald purse cos i have several of his bags but a cheapo primark purse/cashemere tights/hair straighteners or makeup .......Ill end up getting some shit from -D-h who always says 'I dont know what to buy for you'Hmm and 2 years ago I suggested he buy me a posh red lippy he bought me .......a fairy ornament Hmm 2 fairies cuddled up together that teen ds's call the lesbo fairies.

He did buy me a charm for my bday fror my bracelet ...its a babies dummy but unfortunately teen ds say its a 'butt plug' Grin.

mememe30 · 16/10/2010 10:16

I'd like an ipad but its not going to happen. Why oh why does Father Christmas not visit me!!!!

I'd also like (more likely to get) some new hair straighteners and stuff from the lush shop!!!

JustKeepSwimming · 16/10/2010 10:18

I've asked for Les Mis tickets, never seen it, from PIL.

Otherwise? couple of new books, chocolate just for me!, can't think of much else, much better at thinking of things for the DC!

Guacamole · 16/10/2010 10:18

A fairy ornament!

Goodness me, I want a new watch from DH... He understands watches, so I expect I'll get a lovely one. MIL is going to get me the new Jamie Oliver cook book. And my Mum has amazing taste, so I leave that up to her!

ShirtyGerty · 16/10/2010 10:22

I'd love;

  • A new handbag (although my never-ending search for the perfect handbag is worth a whole other thread)
  • Some winter boots
  • A big new cook book to sit down and read on Christmas afternoon
  • A Liz Earle facial
  • Not to have to spend Christmas at MIL's cold dirty house full of cats and dogs

I would like for Christmas

  • A quiet, happy, healthy baby boy (due in 3 weeks)
  • some winter boots or failing that some slipper boot type things
  • a nice watch, DH has become quite knowledgeable about them of late as he works in a shop that sells them, but am still going to have to hint as to the ones I like
  • a new cookbook for the collection
  • a nice peaceful Christmas at home
Frrrrightattendant · 16/10/2010 10:52

Is there anyone else around who doesn't have a list, or actually want anything?

I feel really uncomfortable with the whole thing. Love it for the children but having presents myself makes me feel like a child and I don't really like that.

Just wondering.

JustKeepSwimming · 16/10/2010 10:55

I don't really have a list but i do have a pushy MIL who always asks and wants an idea, and wants to spend money, has a rule of how much she must pend on each child/child-in-law/grandchild.
So i've found over the years life is much easier if i put some thought into it about Sept/Oct time so i'm ready with a suggestion.

My parents are much more laid-back/disorganised and i just get random bits and bobs from them. I'd be happy if we moved to the children-only plan really. Maybe one present each, like a secret santa type thing would be good.

Tippychoocks · 16/10/2010 10:55

Oh good luck Gemjar.

I would like some perfume and a magazine (house porn) subscription. And some snow for DD Grin.

Only my parents buy for me really - I agreed children's gifts only with most people and am single. DD will make me something lovely and I will be very happy.

Tippychoocks · 16/10/2010 10:56

Meant to add - Frrrright, I would never write a list or tell people! Lists IMHO are for sending up the chimney for FC.

Dracschick · 16/10/2010 10:57

Frrrrrrrrrrrright....I might have a list but its highly unlikely Id get anything actually on it ....we are a v small family dh is the all or nothing type so he might go the whole shebang and i get several tacky things like the lesbo fairies/butt plugs or an even naffer gift - a fairy that lights up and flashes....why????? or equally I may get nothingSad,my nanna sends me £5 that just goes into household funds and my fil gives me a £100 for gifts for 3 dc and me and inevitably it goes just on 3 dc - then thats it Xmas is done.

Dracschick · 16/10/2010 10:59

My best gift last year was off ds1 -it was a sequinned elsticated wide gold belt I wore it lots it was only £3 and he bought it me mid December - got good taste has my eldestSmile.

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 16/10/2010 11:37

I hate doing a list but get badgered by my parents and MIL for some ideas. And they can't just be general suggestions, they have to be quite specific items. DH also goes into complete meltdown if he doesn't get some ideas from me - I have no idea why because he has in the past been very good at choosing presents for me.

So on the list this year are some cd's, books, purse, a (cheap) bracelet and I've sent DH some links to some nice handbags (though not the expensive ones that I'd really like Grin).

My DSis is the one person i don't give any ideas to and she always chooses something nice which I love because she's chosen it herself.

itsstillgood · 16/10/2010 12:55

Dh has already bought mine - a mug and saucer that says "I'm going to have tea with a Gruffalo" on it. Easily pleased me Grin

Dad will give me £100 to cover kids, youngest's birthday and me. Will buy some nice tights (sort I'm too cheapskate to buy otherwise).

Kids will make me something.

FiL will get me something weird or nice but more money than I like him spending. Will probably ask Dh to subtly suggest that a nice bottle of Merlot and a couple of new wine glasses (very bad at smashing them) might go down well.

bloodychocoholic · 16/10/2010 13:00

I'm after something really exciting this year - a welly boot remover (I think it is called a boot jack)
The glamour of it! Grin

domesticsluttery · 16/10/2010 13:12

Good Housekeeping magazine supscription (my mum buys me this every year).

Kirstie's Homemade Home book.

That is about as far as I've got, had better get thinking!

IrmaGhostSlayer · 16/10/2010 13:18

ditto wine glasses my DS threw something in belfast sink and smashed them. Drinking wine from tumblers atm.. the glamour.

I would like some celtic sheepskin boots.
Some new bedlinen...

Handbag..Mulberry and Purse.

I doubt this will happen though.

nymphadora · 16/10/2010 13:25

I can usually think of dvds/books.

Would love an Ipad but thats not goingto happen!

Dracschick · 16/10/2010 13:31

nobody for a lesbian fairy ornament then or a buttplug charm??

MiasmARGGHHH · 16/10/2010 13:33

A netbook and some kitchen scales !

bytheMoonlight · 16/10/2010 14:48

I need a new coat so that will be my present from dh to me. I'll have to get it not long after this babys born though ( due in 2 wks) otherwise I'll spend November and December freezing.

I would love an iPad but that's the stuff of dreams!

BatBrainsPumpkinHead · 16/10/2010 15:10

Fat quarters
contribution to a new sewing machine
an uneventful christmas

TeaOneSugar · 16/10/2010 16:00
  • New slippers - I fancy the boot type
- Food Porn Books for the collection - Socks - Something lovely from Lush - I'll probably get slutty pretty but impractical undies from DH. - Some new jeans if I get to my target weight by Christmas.
SpookilyDoodleydoohoohoooooo · 16/10/2010 16:09

Anything kitchen porny the following is at the top of any wish list:

and in the sale!

SpookilyDoodleydoohoohoooooo · 16/10/2010 16:14

Or actually, some wellies would be nice - expensive warm leather lined would be the ultimate but I expect I shall continue to wear my grim blue and flowery ones that I bought for £5 and are just above the ankle (so fetching) and the wrong size Hmm, one can but dream............

these or even better
