Thats it really!
What are you giving your 7/8 year old ds, or other boys you know of the same age, because we are pretty stumped and looking for ideas of big and small gifts.
Ds birthday is 4 days before Christmas too, so doubly stressful!

Lego - depending on your budget as some of the kits are exensive.
I always buy lego - its good value and lasts forever.
My DS is nearly 11 and still plays with his lego - its the only thing he hasn't grown out of.

Wordsonascreen · 30/09/2010 12:07

wii games Blush

DinahRod · 30/09/2010 12:11

The new Mr Gum books & Ivan the Terrible

DS1 is 7 in December, so far we've got star wars lego, a remote control stunt car, some Meccano (the one with 6V battery as he likes fiddling with electrics), Superman costume, Zoob with wheels as zoob has been no.2 only to lego from last year. Also thinking of some playmobil, I wanted to get a cheap digicam but dp doesn't. Um, bakuzans. I like those horrible science kits, we had the magnet one and it's had a lot of use. I'm going to buy more lego, probably a brickmaster Atlantis set as the other Brickmaster set has been very well used. Maybe a DVD & some fleecy socks for his stocking. Other idea is a wheely suitcase for trips to grandma etc
Ooh and the Ant Farm or Worm Farms look really fun!

winnybella · 30/09/2010 13:25

Lego
Those shoes with wheels in the sole. Forgot the name
Couple books

Danthe4th · 30/09/2010 13:32

Bought ds age 8 a proper fuji camera for his birthday and he loves it.
Also thinking of buying the new nintendo dsi xl in green for xmas but got to get it before it sells out, its on offer at toysrus at the mo.
He wants a proper workbench, hammer, nails and some wood.
We did the lego police station and various other lego bits last year and won't be doing that again as he prefers the kits that you do your own thing with.
The new gogo's they love at the moment with the sticker book.

ja9 · 30/09/2010 21:42

lego sets

audio books - secret seven, narnia

colditz · 30/09/2010 21:42

Origami book

Lilyloo · 30/09/2010 21:45

camera
globe
wii games
i pod

ChasingSquirrels · 30/09/2010 21:47

no idea.
he just had a new bike for his birthday (8th) last week.
he has more lego than he knows what to do with, so it won't be that.

will ask him what he wants for main present, and then he gets stocking fillers (little things - £1-5 each, maybe £30 in total, so an annual, maybe another book, toothbrush, selection box, glow in the dark putty, bakagan torch, etc).

tassisssss · 30/09/2010 23:25

my 7 year old would love more DS games, he's increasingly into his lego so I'd like to get him some more
and he really needs a new bike

NoahAndTheWhale · 30/09/2010 23:29

DS will be 7 in November. Have bought him a bit of Lego. He needs a little more I think Grin

Poledra · 30/09/2010 23:33

7-YO nephew - Playmobile - he's an addict, so I and my brother (his uncle) are clubbing together to buy him one of the big sets.

Honeydragon · 30/09/2010 23:39

lego and lego erm and lego. And a few Hornby bits for his train set in the shed. Discovery channel dvd specials (eg bear grylls/ Mythbusters).

Clary · 30/09/2010 23:42

DS2 is 7.

He wants: some game or other for Wii (or possibly Nintendo DS)

New footie kit for his team. He already has nnnnn footie kits

YY to Lego, my 11yo DS1 is a mahoosive fan of it.

dooneygirl · 01/10/2010 00:45

Are you sensing a Lego theme here? I'm adding to it. Pretty much everything DS wants has to do with Lego. Were giving him a big set, a medium set, a small set, a DS game, and several small things like Hot Wheels for stocking stuffers.

IAPJJLPJ · 01/10/2010 06:32

bakugans are half price in toysrus or smyths

tummytickler · 01/10/2010 14:58

Thanks - loads to think about!
Ds only like plain lego sets, no that keen on the kits, but maybe now he is older I will try another kit.
Honeydragon - love the Geeks!! Ds is a bit of a geek too, he Geeks out on wildlife shows, especially sea life!

Globe also a great idea.

we do not have a Wii - the dc's are not allowed one, and the DS is regularly taken away due to arguing, so no games (shame as easy pressie!)

thisiswhataluv · 01/10/2010 16:46

ds is 7 , will be 8 by then...

lego
wii games
ps3
dvds
books
this
magnetic dartboard

Ragwort · 01/10/2010 16:50

Wish my son had liked lego - must be the only boy in the (Mumsnet) world who has never been interested in it!

DS is now 9 but the only really successful presents we gave were to do with sport - ie: kit/balls/tickets to a match/magnetic dart board etc.

Too old fashioned to buy 'technological' stuff Grin.

IAPJJLPJ · 01/10/2010 17:25

bakugans on BOGOF (certain ones) in toysrus

tummytickler · 01/10/2010 20:08

thisis that chatimal thing looks great, I think ds will love it, and when he gets bored with it dd will probably be after it!

OP posts:
thisiswhataluv · 01/10/2010 20:35

especially as its reduced Grin
i got mine before it was reduced though Sad

itsstillgood · 01/10/2010 23:03

On wish list are
Dr Who DVDs
New sonic screwdriver
Dr Who figures from new series
the new Dr Who books
(notice a theme!)
Also
Stratego board game
Magnetic Darts

In reality he would break and not play with the figures or screwdriver much so
Will get the DVD's as main present
The darts as a present he can actually do something with on the day (probably off Granddad)
Have already bought Knex fairground kit off my FiL
Will get him one or two figures if he gets given money off family and/or little brother.

The board game is also on dh wishlist so he will get that.

5yo will get lego and airfix kits!

Both will get
PJs, dressing gown, annual, a fancy hotwater bottle (got 2nd hand) and a cheap dvd off us to open on christmas eve and a new outfit for christmas day.

Lilyloo · 02/10/2010 21:23

Ragwort my ds also has no interest in lego but is massively into sport , we thinking of getting his fave footy team bedroom stuff this year , lamp , bedding , blankets , posters etc
