I'm very very nearly there too :D I'm having a stress free December!

inchhighprivateeye · 28/09/2010 12:25

Nope, none at all. When I used to buy early the DC's would change their minds, or I would forget what I'd got and buy extra. Plus I always seemed to be shopping right up until Christmas Eve. Then there would be late sales in Nov/Dec, where stuff I'd already bought would be reduced. So no buying round here for quite a few weeks yet, then it'll be a mammoth Amazon order, placed with the aid of a glass of red wine.

I think you guys are nuts. It's SEPTEMBER for gawd's sake.....

nappyaddict · 28/09/2010 12:29

WHAT????????

tefal · 28/09/2010 12:39

Got quite a lot yesterday from the Argos 3:2 offer mentioned on here.

My new tree arrived yesterday and I've been to the garden centre for a few more decorations.

Made a good start - I've got to get new decorations so need to do that now or it will just be tat left in a few weeks time.

Still need to get a few things and the M&S food order in but well on the way.

seeker · 28/09/2010 15:24

But how can you possibly do shopping for children before they've written their letters? Or do you all make them do that in the summer holidays or something?

sookie1980 · 28/09/2010 15:30

i have done most of mine.i kind of know what my dds want from what they have said already in passing.but if they really want something i havent bought yet i will get it for them.

LutyensCBA · 28/09/2010 15:42

I never buy anything in advance as I've found in the past that people (mum and dh are worst offenders!) start dropping hints about what they'd love to have. It's actually nice of them because then you can get them something they'd love and use rather than another "oh, well" gift, but it meant that my carefully planned advance-shopping turns out to be useless!

As for kids, there is no point in buying for them early as they change their minds so often. In the age of internet shopping, I won't have to battle high-street crowds or lug heavy shopping all over town. I do all my shopping in late November on the computer with a glass of Baileys Grin

DS is 4 so doesn't write a letter.

DS is 2 so doesn't write a letter.

mmmmmchocolate · 28/09/2010 21:29

No a 3 yr old and an 8 month old barely have any concept of what Christmas is. They have what's on offer.

Bingtata · 28/09/2010 21:33

I have got all DD's presents. She is 4 and will attempt a letter, but I am still able to heavily influence her Grin.

gruber · 28/09/2010 21:37

Not all but have started. We've been on hols this week so been in some different shops, picked up some nice things in shops we wouldn't usually go in.

Also we are working right up to Christmas so no chance of shopping on my 1/2 day off each week, in cold weather!!

dooneygirl · 28/09/2010 21:49

I tell my 2 Santa has a lot of children to shop for, so we need to get our letters in early, so he doesn't start shopping before he gets our letter.

I am all done except for DH. We've had some amazing sales around here, and I don't think I'm going to beat the prices in the upcoming sales, so why not shop now? I've never been done this early before, but I'm not a late shopper, either.

simpson · 28/09/2010 21:53

I bought most of my Dcs (5 & 2) pressies today Grin

Just got the rest of the family to buy for now...

Algebra18MinusPiEquals16 · 28/09/2010 22:00

I'd finished my DCs' shopping a few weeks ago

they are 3 and 1 so not at the stage of asking for specific things, though I knew DD wanted Thomas stuff so I got them a little something from that range.

I've done most of it on Amazon, but a bit from ELC as they did those 20% vouchers on Mullers Little Stars!

All of DH's stuff arrived today :o

nearly done all of the DSCs' shopping but as they are 12 and 18 it's not set in stone yet.

nappyaddict · 29/09/2010 11:48

I've just got my best friend, sister's boyfriend and my friend's little girl left to pick something for.

Waiting for 2 items to come in stock in Toys R Us so I can qualify for free delivery as I haven't spent enough without it.

Then got to get DP some aftershave from T J Hughes and order him some cufflinks and some homemade jam and chutneys from the market for aunts, uncles and grandparents.

The3Bears · 29/09/2010 12:22

caramelwaffle · 01/10/2010 00:31

Majority of mine bought and wrapped.....and a shed load of Birthdays occurring around the same time.

asouthwoldmummy · 02/10/2010 13:45

We're doing hampers for family this year of jams, chutneys, Christmas puddings and other things I've being making throughout the year.

I just have DH to buy for along with presents for DS and neices and nephews. I got a 20% off voucher for elc when you spend £100, so will try to buy as many kids presents from there as possible!

TheLifeOfRiley · 02/10/2010 16:49

Mine are all pretty much bought and wrapped.

DS's likes never change he has the same long running obsessions so he is pretty safe to buy for in advance. (Also as one of his loves is ToyStory it seems wise to buy in advance). Helps me budget to buy throughout the year too and can usually buy more or better quality gifts as buy when things on offer.

singingmum · 02/10/2010 16:55

We have bought a few pressies inc my dd's wii so thats cool as got it on offer as they hadn't taken offer of shelf and hadn't put the end date on display so they had to let us Grin

Hai1988 · 05/10/2010 15:03
