Looking for inspiration

I got a nurses outfit half price in Mothercare so will get her a doctors kit to go with that.

Also paints, chalk, paper etc to go with a lovely ELC we got from Freecycle.

I'm also thinking of getting her some Orchard games and marble run.

What are you buying?

when ds1 was 3 we gave him a balance bike. Best purchase we've ever made.

ds2 will be 3 this xmas and I have absolutely no idea. We always put drawing stuff in their stockings, but I'm really clueless when it comes to his main present. He has all the main stuff already from his brother.

My DS3 will have just turned 3 by Christmas and he is getting lots of Playmobil. He loves acting out little scenes so should enjoy it.

Also going to buy lots of games like Frustration and Hungry Hippos - noisy but fun! Grin

I'm getting mine citiblocks or kapla. She spends ages building things with Jenga blocks so I know she'll get use out of them and her big sister can help her with them too.

Other than that some dressing up things, crafty things and maybe something from the Disney shop, she loves anything with Mickey Mouse!

Will watch this thread to see if any better ideas come up Smile

bigchris · 21/09/2010 12:08

Peppa pig camper van
she's already got the castle and house and loves all things peppa pig

muddleduck · 21/09/2010 12:13

love the citiblocks.

that might be the answer!

thanks

TheGrumpalo · 21/09/2010 12:18

No probs! My friend just bought some for her dd's birthday and has send me amazing pics of the things they've made together. Think you get a book with them with ideas of what you can build.

muddleduck · 21/09/2010 12:21

I thought we had every construction toy available... we already have:

zoobs
magnetix
mechano
knex
duplo
lego

but they keep the boys occupied on weekend mornings, so to me they are priceless Smile

ja9 · 21/09/2010 12:23

the main things my dd is getting are (not all from us)

a dolls house
a vtech camera
a ds (shes v young but big bro has one...

last year she got a balance bike and it was a COMPLETE flop - every time she got on it she would ask ' but where are my pedals?'

if your 3yo doesnt already have, a mini micro scooter would be a great idea.

dd also has been given a hand-me-on disney princess dressing table - and although it's plasticy and not the most tasteful, she absolutely ADORES it and i'd recommend it to any little girly girl.

muddleduck · 21/09/2010 12:24

tell her that the balance bike is a 'scooter bike' and she needs to scoot not pedal.

ramonaquimby · 21/09/2010 12:30

getting dd (well she's 4) a bunkbed for her dolls. at least hope to, haven't seen any just think that they must exist!

ja9 · 21/09/2010 12:34

muddleduck. after 8 months of consistent trying we gave in to her sighs and 'one day...i'll have a bike with pedals..' and sourced her a pedal bike. she's happy as larry now!

DD2 will be 3.10, she's getting nurses outfit and medical bag, wooden play food, Wooden toaster and breakfast set from ELC,Rosie the pink engine from Thomas stories to use with DS1's Brio type train track, play dough and accessories (we never seem to have enough rolling pins so all DC getting one in their stocking this year!)Peppa pig snakes and ladders

DS1 will be 2.5, He's geeting JCB trucks for the garden as quite big!Wooden train track and juctions etc along with a few trains and carriages, Fire fighter dressing up clothes and some little Toy Story figures, abc cards from ELC, Toy Story snap cards

But I'm really stuck for DD1 who will be 12 and DS2 who will be 16 months.

muddleduck · 21/09/2010 12:38

I can't believe how organised you all are.

I hadn't given it a moment's thought till I found this thread.

Stuck on what else to get though, dont have to worry about other people as no one else really buys for them.

muddleduck · 21/09/2010 12:59

zoobs are good but a bit tricky for age 3. I'd say got for 5ish.

ohforfoxsake · 21/09/2010 12:59

She wants a "train with a button on it".

If anyone knows where to get a train with a button on it, please do tell me.

Other than that she wants a tambourine.

MrsJohnDeere · 21/09/2010 13:01

Have already bought it (because happened to find what I wanted heavily discounted):
playmobil mega farm set

ja9 · 21/09/2010 13:03

Can i recommend MANETICO as a great construction toy. It's like magnetic duplo. My two hjave really enjoyed making up the examples on the picture cards. Would be suitable from 2 I think.

lots and lots of duplo
fisher price kid tough camera
dino valley (half price) and dinos
buzz lightyear
toy story rc car
other little toy story bits
orchard games

and were getting him the kitchen from ikea as his main present

:)

gomummy · 21/09/2010 17:15

Ohforfoxsake - "train with a button on it" in this house was eventually deciphered to mean a die cast Thomas/Percy/etc., that has a button on top where it's coal would be that makes it say a variety of phrase and light up. hth :)

tassisssss · 21/09/2010 17:37

I bought fabby duplo figures with real hair like dolls (actually they look rather evil) from ebay last week as stocking fillers for my 2 and just 4 year old girlies to relaunch our duplo collection for another season!
