Sharing Sunday services

Thought I’d start a new thread where we can share what we’ve been impacted by in our Sunday services each week. Whether it’s something from the preach, a particular song sung, a word from God or a kind word from a fellow Jesus follower.

I know that for some getting out on a Sunday morning is tricky, for all sorts of reasons, and for others Sundays are anything but a day of rest, either because they are serving in the church, or because they are constantly wrangling little ones and struggle to engage, so thought this might be a nice place to share encouragement with one another, and might be a particular help to those for whom Sunday mornings aren’t always a blessing - a way to share the faith of others as it were, when our own is struggling.

I’ll be leaving shortly to get down to church - I’m preaching this morning on the beauty of God.

This week's sermon (part of a Proverbs sermon series) was about the importance of integrity in Christian life, and not allowing small compromises and "wiggle room" to pave the way to sin.

Your post reminded me of a book that changed my life - “No Compromise” a biography of Keith Green by his widow, Melody Green

I'm skipping church tomorrow, it's the annual service for the local primary school and they take over the church to have their service (which is more like school assembly than church).

Justmerach · 09/02/2025 10:24

Hi everyone today on the 9th February Today the reading was from the book of Galatians 3: 26-28, Psalm 138, the Gospel was from (John 13:34-35). I was told yesterday as well that the theme for today would be racial justice.

Hi everyone

I found a link on a church website linking to the sermon sheet for the week. I thought I thought I would link this. I have looked at Sunday just gone on the one uploaded and it is pretty much the same as what was used in my church which is a church in a different part of London.

So, I think I will let this link be used to read them and downloaded. If I perhaps wish to discuss something around them to then I will do so.

Link to where the sermons can be downloaded weekly.

This was there own for this week

Also, the last two week in many church's racial justice was touched on. I have explored this myself to comment further. I know though I can often find some things quite emotive topics and am working with what we have now but we learn form the past.

Justmerach · 03/03/2025 20:27

Hi everyone,. I wanted to discuss the reading from our service this week. The reading from 2 Corinthians 12-4:2 really spoke to me that when we are in front of Jesus our veil will drop and I found that inspiring to continue and it strengthened me. I see our sermon sheet differed from the one in the link above so I thought I would attach it.
Reading 2 Corinthians 3: 12-4:2, Psalm 99, Gospel Luke 9: 28-36.

We had a sermon on keeping our hearts open to God's influence, not letting our hearts become hard, the sermon series is on Hebrews.

LeaningOnTheEverlastingArms · 13/04/2025 16:10

We had a wonderful time in the presence of God, a spontaneous song of worship and a word focussed on the second part of 1 Corinthians 4:1
“Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.”

mostlydrinkstea · 13/04/2025 18:40

I had three services today. One was a traditional Book of Common Prayer Matins in a tiny village church. The second was in the town church where we celebrated Palm Sunday and the last was in the dementia home where we sung some favourite hymns and then chatted over tea. We have lots of visitors to the town church so it is always a challenge to balance the needs of the home congregation with people who have just wandered in off the streets and this might be their first experience of church for years. Sometimes the visitors are OT scholars or ministers on holiday, so preaching is always interesting. It’s been a good day.

Thegreatestoftheseislove · 15/04/2025 19:12

@LeaningOnTheEverlastingArms I love it when worshipful singing is spontaneous! That is what I imagine is part of being in Heaven.

@mostlydrinkstea that sounds like a most enjoyable Sunday and lovely to hear it was a good day.

LeaningOnTheEverlastingArms · 20/04/2025 15:16

Today we had a word themed around Revelation 1 and 4 v 1. The Voice of God like a trumpet and what He said. We also had a song in Irish, which was very meaningful to us.

Justmerach · 25/05/2025 12:20

Hi everyone, today in the church the readings were different than that Oremus link I posted. I noticed that all the readings were different so thought that I would attach the sheet for this week.
This is from my service today which I have attached. The Reading was from (Acts 16: 6-9). The psalm was from 67. (John 14: 23-29) was about love which moved me. You can save it and enlarge it to be read. I cannot wait to Pentecost day on the 8th June.

Hi, I went to church today and on the weekly sermon sheet one of the sermons really struck accord with me. It was clear in that sermon that the prayer and faith of a member of a house can save another in that house. So if you are the head and are Christian rest on that. I like that my father can cover me with his prayers and my mother as well. Get them to pray when you are in times of distress.

I have attached the sermon which you can save and download if wanted to read at your leisure. There was also Psalm 97 and the Gospel was John (17: 20-26). Just to let you know I do attend an Anglican church although I am a non demontional Christian. Just to let you know where these come from.

(Acts 16: 32-34)
Believe on the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, and your household. They spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in the house. At the same of the night he took them and washed their wounds; then he and his entire family were baptised without delay.

This week our sermon was on the gifts of Pentecost, and that we have access to all God’s power to heal etc. It was called “weird and wonderful” and urged us not to deny the power of the spirit, but to listen to God’s prompting and answer His call to help people. Very uplifting and hopeful!

Justmerach · 08/06/2025 13:16

Hi everyone, today is Pentecost day which was lovely at the church and the reading was from Acts 2 1-21. The gospel was from John 14: 8-17 25-27.

The sermon today was on Corinthians 14, and was about prophecy and developing the skill of prophesying.
