What is the safest children toothpaste? I took Aquafresh for Kids and found many parabens which are harmful especially if swallowed. It's scary since Children usually eat taste colourful toothpastes. hm..

We use green people mandarin toothpaste www.greenpeople.co.uk/childrens-mandarin-toothpaste-50ml.aspx. My DS loves it, although I didn't like the adult versions at all, my teeth never felt clean with them.

gomummygo · 22/05/2010 20:32

We use Orajel Toddler training toothpaste. It is supposed to be safe if they swallow it and comes in several flavours.

Danthe4th · 23/05/2010 08:29

Wish they did these 15 years ago as my eldest dd was very good at doing her teeth from a very young age but we used the childrens version of aquafresh and she has suffered from flouridosis on her teeth and that was from not swallowing it just using too much flouride.
She has lovely teeth but the front ones have white marks on them which is a shame.

JurgaSala · 24/05/2010 08:30

In Aquafresh Kids I saw PEGs and parabens, which cause cancer. And since is bright red and sweet a child tends to swallow it.

Ironically, it seems that grown-up toothpaste are helthier because at least they are not tempting to swallow.

Avoid SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate) and flouride at all cost. IT IS BAD FOR YOU !!! WAKE UP PEOPLE !!! Do some research for God sake and your childens sake...KEEP IT NATURAL!!!

Stay natural - don't clean them!

TruthIsTrue · 04/06/2010 19:41

Thediaryofanobody, no one is shouting. Just trying to make people aware. Isn't that what this forum is about

Oh Lordy - toothpaste gives your kids cancer now. As megcleary says, something else to worry about.....

herjazz · 04/06/2010 19:51

am using the halos and horns one. Think you can get it cheaply from bigger supermarket

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 04/06/2010 19:52

www.tomsofmaine.co.uk We use this, it's very, very good.

Furball · 04/06/2010 20:16

well all I can say is - when I 'gave up flouride' - 6 months later my dentist knew

My teeth had softened and thank goodness I had a dental appointment for him to warn me. Luckily they were caught intime.

I nearly found out the hard way that flouride is important for healthy teeth

herjazz · 04/06/2010 20:21

move to brum for flouride. Its in the water

TruthIsTrue · 05/06/2010 00:12

Furball, Your teeth softened? That's interesting. Wonder what happened to all those poor people before Flouride was introduced?? Nothing happened!

Furball · 05/06/2010 07:52

why would every dentist recommend to brush with a fluoride toothpaste?

Maybe they do actually know something?

and I can only go by my own experience of what did actually happen when I stopped using fluoride.

belgo · 05/06/2010 08:01

judging by the fact that many elderly and even middle aged people don't have their own teeth, I am quite willing to take the risk and used a fluoride toothpaste for my children and for me.

My mum gave me fluoride tablets when I was a child, and I have very good teeth.

TruthIsTrue · 05/06/2010 18:59

fluoride tablets?? That just makes me mad...

What will people give their kids next...

Fluoride is a "waist product" that is very expensive to dispose of. Someone is getting rid of it very easily AND getting paid very well. DO you guys know about Aspartame? I bet most of you don't. Do you know why that is? Because the big companies don't want you to know.

Your body is well equipped to look after itself without pumping chemicals into it.

Someone once said, "I would never eat a meal that contained things I?d never heard of and had no idea of the purpose or effects of, yet twice a day I had been happily squirting a mysterious white chemical paste into my mouth without a second thought!"

Yes it is a mysterious white chemical full of weird a ingredients.

Of course your dentist will tell you use it. Does you dentist tell you that water fluoridation is bad? No they don't! Does the guy selling you a family big mac meal tell you it's bad for your? No! Because they also don't know and don't care! They just go by what they were taught.

Don't believe what you are told. Just take some time to look it up yourself. It's very easy no that we have the Internet

Shaz10 · 06/06/2010 00:27

I had fluoride tablets as a child. How many fillings do you have? I have none.

jabberwocky · 06/06/2010 00:36

ladysybil · 06/06/2010 01:01
