How much Calpol is too much for a 6 month old?

My 6 month old's just got over mild Chicken Pox a couple of weeks ago caught from his 2.5 year old sister.

Then we had mild Carbon Monoxide poisoning after a leak from our woodburner so he's had a chesty cough for weeks

now he's got a very snuffly, mucus-y common cold on top of it which is affecting his breastfeeding slightly as he's only feeding for 5-10 mins every couple of hours, though plenty of wet nappies (just no poops).

He's also teething badly.

So, I'm dosing him with Calpol or own brand equivalents one 5ml spoonful about twice-three times a day, plus he has a little on his teether 3- 4 times a day.

This stuff really does knock him for six and he's getting increasingly lethargic, those he's still alert and responsive in the brief respite when the teething pain abates, but does anyone know if this is too much medicine? NHS Direct is too long-winded.

Thanks guys

she was bragging on the other thread she started abot how she had looked through archives and knows that MNHQ had no way of tracing her so she was quite safe

MerlinsBeard · 09/01/2010 11:35

Thanks BALD but I am not that bothered. I just wanted to see if there were any clues as to if this could be true and real or not.

Malkuth · 09/01/2010 12:29

I have posted on one of Milkmonster's threads in her defence before and just got abuse for mentioning other threads she had started. I have never got involved in troll hunting but this is one poster who I genuinely believe makes up things for effect and attention.

Honeypeckle · 09/01/2010 13:05

Twas madness!!

I looked this morning and both the other treads have gone.

Also searching her name came up threads from 2007 so she's been here a while

JollyPirate · 09/01/2010 13:26

Nutter....... total and utter. Strange person - i give Calpol/I don't give Calpol - make yer mind up love.

mrsjuan · 09/01/2010 13:28

Had a look last night and there were lots of threads on a range of topics. Some were very but there's obviously at least a grain of truth about them.

Poor children

TAKE YOUR BABY TO THE DOCTOR!

Wastwinsetandpearls · 09/01/2010 16:40

I am sorry but lol at I am not mentioning any products as I am not paid to advertise Because of course we will all think well if milkmonster uses this product then I must. A bit like Delia and cranberries or NIgella and semolina.

Get over yourself woman!

wukter · 09/01/2010 17:17

MrsJuan - glad about your DD! I was thinking your harmless run of the mill thread (no offence ) gave a hairy handed one the inspiration.

Lol at milkmonster advertising brands! Aspirational, innit.

Hope the poor child is ok, though.

MsSpentYoof · 09/01/2010 20:11

Milkmonster... if you are real and you are over-dosing your child on paracetamol you can severely mess up his/her inside.... and it will be all YOUR fault!!!!

You NEED to seek help now!!

k8ty · 09/01/2010 21:27

omg for the people who say they have never heard anything so stupid as giving calpol for a cold with no fever...? i have many colds where i dont have a fever but feel bloody awful, headache, aches etc.. and pain relief helps with these symptoms! if my baby has a cold and is miserable even with NO fever i give calpol, i would not let them suffer they cannot tell us how they feel, and i have had many gps tell me the same thing!!!
