Out of hours dr or wait? DD2 really not right.

She's not seriously ill but since monday she has not been right, she was a little bit sick sunday night and since then has had mild runs and been off her food, also very clingy, not wanting to go and play and falling asleep every afternoon (she dropped her nap about 6 months ago).
She is also a bit blotchy, has some faint red spots on her cheek and arms and legs, just a slight rash type (goes under pressure)

Yesterday we went to soft play and after about half an hour she just wanted to sit on my lap and then exploded in her nappy, today she has had really runny nappies and has barely eaten, even choc was refused, but she did ask for and eat a banana and some cocktail sausages.

Lots of water going down but it seems to be getting worse instead of better. DO I wait over the weekend to see or shall I take her to out of hours tomorrow morning? If it wasn't christmas I would take her for a once over but it will be a nightmare atm.

How old is she?

I would call out of hours doctors for advice.

Is she asleep now?

A mother's instincts are always right - you sound like you want to take her and, to me, she does sound like she needs looking at.

Even a blanching rash usually prompts me to get the checked.

As she is young, she will be given priority and hopefully you'll be seen pretty quickly. Besides, if she is seen now, she won't need to be seen urgently at three am.

I would bite the bullet and go - let us know how you get on and I hope she feels better soon - it's rotten luck for you and her.

I'd call. You'll get to speak to a nurse or doctor who could give you a bit more advice at least and help decide if you need to see someone.

Aw poor DD2 and poor you Jack. I'd give them a call or go in the morning as she's been off for a while, poor little tot. I was contemplating calling last night for DD as she was coughing and struggling but she improved a bit while I was still thinking. Hope she's better soon.

She is happily asleep now, I wasn't thinking of taking ehr before tomorrow am tbh as have been drinking so can't drive. She just keeps asking for bed which is weird.
She sleeps through, no mad temp but feels a bit warm.
She's 2.2.

Oh, hadn't thought about the other molars tbh, good point. She was a horrible teether when younger, they all came very quickly and together.
DH has to work tomorrow 10-7 and needs to be driven/drive in, and the hosptial where the ooh is is in the other direction.
So now I have to call NHS in the morning (they are my ooh doc) and try and sort an appt for after 10 so I can drop DH off, adn then have to get kids out and go and pick him up.
FFS. Bloody doctors.

Good news, bad news.
She seems a bit perkier this morning and her nappiesa re a bit firmer, not great thoguh still.
But I have stomach cramps and don't feel well, and DD1 is complaining of stomach ache as well, so looks like we all have a stomach bug, so no panic!

Why bloody doctors?

I am a nurse and am working quite a lot of shifts over the holiday period. My colleagues (nurses and doctors) are working pretty hard over the holiday period too. Aren't they entitled to a bit of time off with their families?

Sorry your little one is ill, but it is hardly the doctors' fault.

We are very fortunate here in the uk that we have reasonable out of hours services both in surgeries and hospitals.

Only bloody doctors as the whole area (county wide) has been centralised so the out of hours is in our local a and e on the other side of town and they absolutley will not ever make house calls.
Which is not helpful either for parking or waiting. and means I don't call them over holidays because I know it will be a bloody nightmare getting there.

(thanks lady, only ignoring you cos you told me to I am quite relieved I feel bad tbh as it makes me worry less, she is obviously wanting cuddles when her stomach hurts. She has horrible wind today though )

I know that having a child ill is enormously anxst-making,(and I hope she will soon be much better, and you too), but can we expect a house call for people who CAN get to the doctor/hospital? Think how many patients the staff can see in the time it takes to do a house call, and there are some people out there who really can not get to the doctor who WILL have a house call.

Snorter, I think, in Jack's defense, she was just having a bit of a moan. I don't think she was making a serious accusation. I can see why it might upset you, but I don't think she meant it in that way.

unwell since monday and you took her to soft play yesterday? I'm sure there are a collection of parents who are loving you for that today!

That said, hope she is better soon.

difficult, I know! in my defence she slept all night and seemed totally better in the morning, as soon as she filled her nappy and started clinging I left.

Sorry for jumping on you, just feel a bit picked on today, and 2 people having a go at me about saying 'bloody doctors' while
a) drunk and
b) worried about my DD2

kind of got my back up!
She is till not 100% but is not as bad as she has been so I think it has just been a bug.

I wouldn't even consider calling or seeing a doctor for any of the symptoms you described. What did you want a dr to do? Seems fairly obvious it's just a bug.
