has any one else had experience of this.
She is also having problems controlling her bladder and having many accidents.

Tests have confirmed no infection.

Am worried.

She has had this for moonhs now and recently slight traces of protein.

How is your DD, kent? Has she had her appointment yet?

gagarin · 09/05/2009 12:23

kent - do you think there's any chance this is linked to starting her period?

The tummy pain? Small amounts of period blood might not stain knickers but may make urine bloody?

Just a thought.

littlerach · 09/05/2009 13:01

Kent, my stepdaughter was about 11 and had a similar thing, but not for very long.
She was also told ot could be linked to starting her periods, htough we were all very sceptical about this.
It cleared up within a week, so obviously not as severe as your dd, and her peiods started about 18 months later.
I hope you get some answers.

kentmumtj · 13/05/2009 10:49

my dd has her appointment next wednesday hopefully i will get some answers then.

She still has the problem and is still having accidents which arent nice for her

roll on next wednesday is all i can say

Have just read OP

I had this when i was 7 - nephiritis

stillenacht · 13/05/2009 10:55

i had tonsilitus (which ironically i have now) and the bugs went to my kidneys and caused me to wee blood, i remember it hurt to wee and felt thick (as i guess it would being blood). My mum didn't realise i had had tonsilitus and thought i had a cold (she worked and needed me to get on with it same as i do with my DSs now really ) and the bugs just travelled.

Hope you and your daughter are ok

kentmumtj · 13/05/2009 15:40

wow tonsilitus how weird that the bugs travelled.

Would that cause her to still have bladder problems and the urge to go to wee immeduitly

Kidney problems are one of the complications which can follow after untreated Strep infections of the throat (in susceptible people this occurs as Scarlet Fever, in others tonsillitis).

This is why treatment with antibiotics is essential for Scarlet Fever and bacterial tonsillitis.

Wilkiepedia · 13/05/2009 15:54

Kentmum - just a practical suggestion, how about buying her some tenalady for her knickers whilst she is having these accidents? You could make a big deal out of them being for 'ladies' so she doesn't feel embarrassed but would at least stop her getting wet knickers as the pad could just be changed?

Hope it all gets sorted!

littleducks · 13/05/2009 16:00

are you still waiting for an appointement?
hope it is sorted asap and your poor dd feels better soon

kentmumtj · 15/05/2009 07:06

have suggested little 'pads' for her and sadly she doesnt want to use them so i will not force it onto her

interestingly enough she has no tonsils as she had them removed when she was 5.

Is there any chance it could be threadworms as someone else mentioned?

walkinthewoods · 15/05/2009 07:44

Bump as am interested in how it all works out for you.

My dd 5 has had repeat urine infections for years now (so different to your dd). She's had 2 scans and is on her second bout of long term antibiotics, which I'm not happy about). She often complains of tummy ache and I think she has another infection.

She has had blood in her urine. I panicked and took her to the gp and was told off....I should have waited for my hospital appt. or something I think doctors forget about normal feelings sometimes and can be quite dismissive.

kentmumtj · 15/05/2009 19:32

i guess if im honest i have no idea am hoping by wednesday i may have some idea but then again maybe i wont guess i will just have to wait and see

walkingthewoods aww poor thing have they not investigated why she has so many infections? i see you say she has had 2 scans is it that they just dont know

this is my worry that i get there and they find nothing which will mean there wont be a lot they can do about it from a medical point of view...... i think

Well every time she has an infection now I have to take a sample straight to hospital for in depth anaylsis. It hasn't showed anything imparticular (but shows an infection). The last one I took up showed an infection but they had taken so long to process it and actually get back to me it had cleared itself up (but this was after I'd made a real fuss). The paed told me that it wasn't a worrying infection and would not warrant AB's especially as it had cleared up.

The paed thinks her UTI's are just 'one of those things' and it is quite common for young girls to get repeat UTI's. I'm just getting right fed up with it and I'm sure constant AB's aren't a good thing (generally). I also feel really guilty like I'm not keeping her clean enough or something (I still wipe her bottom ffs just in case....she's 5)

Oh hell I don't know what to think. It's really difficult when its your own dc isn't it?

Oh BTW what's is celiac disease? I have considered lots of options/alternative sources. I have read that a yeast overgrowth (candida) can be linked to UTI's

walkinthewoods · 17/05/2009 20:50

Kentmum
Basically yes no real 'cause'. And she has had threadworms a couple of times (quite bad infestations). Again makes me feel bad! This also makes her hold in her poo because she's scared of the worms, in turn makes her mess herself which is obviously not a happy environment (and sometimes I don;t know!)

kentmumtj · 19/05/2009 17:29

oh dear

well hopefully this time tomorrow i might have an idea what it could be but then again i may be none the wiser

kentmumtj · 20/05/2009 11:44

oh well guess the ball is rolling

Kentmum
Its maddening how long it takes and the fact that they can't give you a diagnosis. I suppose the human body defeats doctors sometimes.
How is she coping? Its a very self conscious age, bless her.

kentmumtj · 22/05/2009 12:24

shes very embarrased and doesnt like talking about anything to do with it..think we are going to have problems keeping the chart as she does not want to admit to the accidnet part of it

I can hope thats all i can do that she feels able to be honest

hopefully this will be resolved before she goes to secondary school in septemeber

It is not right for anyone at any age to be losing blood in their urine. Is your GP on speed or something?? I would second, third etc anyone who said ask for immediate referral to a urologist.
