Is there a fluey type thing going round children at the moment?

Ds1 wsn't great yesterday. h ewa sindoors all day anyway as a punishment for cutting big holes in his school torusers. He was bedded by 7pm, complaining of not feeling good,and had a very stuffy nose.
I ent him to school, he is in the bath now. He says he feels sick and dizzy, has got a snotty nose (but not running) feels very hot and shivery and says his wrists are sore.

There is round here - my DS has been ill most of the weekend with high temp and snotty nose. My CM told me that one of her friends who is also a CM had no mindees at all last week - all off with flu!

My DS is definitely better today and will be back to the CM tomorrow but there are others who've been ill a lot longer.

my ds1 kept complaining of sore limbs and a headache last week. I sent him in anyway as I thought he was putting it on. Now ds2 is sick - he is incredibly hardy and hardly ever ill. I think ds1 was ill in hindsight. Bad mum.

He says he wants to go to bed after his bath, which sin't like him at all. I may need to keep him off tomorrow, was hoping he would hold out till Friday.

Lots of it at the dc school, staff affected too.

Yes there is so stock up on the Calpol and tissues and warm blackcurrent. All my lot have had it. Started about 3 weeks ago.

well I feel like a terrible mother for sending DS1 in today. but I will get a disciplinary at work if I have time off. I may see if DH can finish at lunchtime tomorrow, so at least I can go in after lunch.

Have got Calpol, Junior Ibuprofen, Medised, Sudafed, hot blackcurrant and cough bottle.

Don't worry everyone, I know not to give him Medised and Calpol together

sounds like you are prepared ... I didn't know you could give children sudafed ... I will have to send dp out for some! Ds is on ibuprofen and tixylix with the occasional bit of calpol thrown in for good measure. Medised was the final resort last night when he just could not stop coughing! Poor things! Im on annadin extra and benilyn ...

There is a children's sudafed availiable, but according to teh pharmacist at work, the childrens one and "adult" one are exactly the same.
its the adult one I ahve, for 2-5 year olds it is 2.5ml spoonful every 4-6 hours. For6-12 years old it is 5ml spoonful every 4-6 hours

loads of it - DS was off all last week with chest/ear infection, I've been in bed all weekend shivering and DH has it now.

We all have it, I am off school ( teacher) with it, had no voice Friday and have been unable to move all weekend.

DD started coughing last night and was up all night had also been sick, when we phoned in the school said almost half her class are off.

PS, you don't have to buy the Sudafed brand, get the equivalent from Boots.

yes my dd has had it since friday terrible head very weak temp and very sore throat,taking her to gp in the morning to make sure its not infected having a hard time eating

dh saw GP tonight (not flu related) who said flu has started unusually early this year. dd1 had it - high temps and cough for six days/nights, then very tired/weak.

I had it mildly, and dd2 and dh had it not at all: all three of us were vaccinated, for different reasons. Poor dd1

There were 120 pupils off in one day at my nieces school on friday. Dd2 has a high temp and snotty nose as do I. My wrists are sore too infact all my bones ache

Yes sudafed can be taken with Calpol and Ibuprofen as it is a decongestant and doens't ahve painkillers in. but some adult decongestants have painkiller such as paracetamol in, so be careful if taking anything yourself. Such as Lemsip.

My Ds (5) has this, this is his second week off school, and it was his birthday yesterday poor thing . I've had him to the doctors twice so far, although there's nothing they can do.

DD (8) was sent home with the start of it yesterday, the school receptionist said 10 children were sent home yesterday with the start of symptoms.

Dp and I have had it for about 2 weeks now, and I'm so fed up of feeling ill.

I'm just hoping it's gone in time for Xmas

We've all got it too. I've struggled into work with it today (day 5) and am beginning to regret it. (Which is why I'm sitting on Mumsnet rather than doing any work.)

Yes, my two have it and so do I...ds1 been ill since last Tues night, temps, coughing, occasionally being sick.

I started on Sat and feel shocking - really nasty cough and high temps. Ds2 now also. it's quite nasty - I thought I was over the temp stage and last night it was up at 39 again

Had to syringe feed ds2 water all night because although he was latched on for dear life he couldn't get much milk out...nose too blocked.

Have had no sleep for about a week now.
I've heard it lasts over a week - ds1 seems better but still very coldy and coughy.

DS has a very bad cold, don't think its flu as he is still managing to be a pita! He has a temp and very runny nose and a bad hacking cough.

My ds(11) has been ill for over 2 weeks (the most time he has ever had off school). He started with a sore throat then high temperature, shivering, loss of appetite, and bad cough, also complaining of aching ankles. Don't know if he will make it back before the end of term - at least he is eating a little bit today and seems to be slowly improving.
