My daughter might die and I can’t cope

My daughter is 2 1/2 months old.
She was born poorly with a condition called chylotorax. Doctors did genetic testing and found out she has Noonan Syndrome.
She recently outgrew NICU and was transferred to our local children hospital’s PICU.

She got an infection and is very poorly. I didn’t realise how sick she was until this morning, one of her doctor’s offered to call the palliative team in case the worse comes to the worse.
He said her situation is very dangerous, and there’s a real risk she might pass away, and it could even be this weekend. She could get better but there’s a serious risk she does not. Her underlying condition is also still present.

Theres so much going on with her, I don’t write it down as it upsets me too much.

I can’t cope!! I don’t know I will cope if I lose her! I’ve never been in so much pain. She’s on the oscillator and sedated. I can’t look at her without breaking down. I am beyond terrified.
We don’t have childcare but my husband’s family is on their way to us. In the meantime I’m in our Ronald McDonald House with my other kids, and my husband is with her.

I am a mess.
How do people do this? Will I be in agony and sad for the rest of my life is she passes?
How do you ever come to term with that? Will any of us ever be happy again?
I want to die if she passes.
All she’s ever known is the hospital rooms and machines, she’s never seen anything beautiful.
I only got to hold her a handful of times. She only got to have my milk or formula a couple times because they stopped feeding her.

She was starting to get so much better and was off respiratory support a couple weeks ago, and now she’s on an oscillatory ventilator!! How is that possible??

I am so, so sorry you’re going through this.

One hour at a time, and when that feels like too much, just get through one minute at a time.

I will be holding you and your daughter in my thoughts.

“she’s never seen anything beautiful.”
She’s seen her mama’s face and your love for her shines through your post. I can’t think of anything more beautiful.
Wishing you all peace, strength and love.

If you choose to read anything, please read this OP.

She has known beauty and love every day. 💕

I am so sorry that your beautiful daughter is so poorly. PICU teams are pretty amazing, and will fight so hard for her. But you and dad are so important to her. She knows your voice, your touch, your scent, your heartbeat. To her, you are joy and peace and safety. Look after yourselves as much as you can, to help you have the strength to be there for her. I hope it’s okay to pray for you, and her.

Praying for a positive outcome for your daughter, and sending love to you and your family. I wish I had more words. You are in many people's thoughts tonight.

OP. My heart goes out to you. What a frightening time. I am so incredibly sorry and am sending all my love and so hoping your beautiful daughter pulls though. Hang on in there xxx

Drs are amazing, and they will be doing everything they can. Thinking of you all and hoping for a good outcome, but please also think about your other children, your heart is breaking but speak to others who have been in your situation with a negative outcome and they will tell you there will always be a sadness but you also will with support learn to live again. Take all the support you are offered, speak to the chaplain team (they support people of all faiths and none). Be assured many people are there for you. Take care, much love

Like others, I am also reposting this. She has seen and felt your love, and there is nothing more beautiful.
Sending you strength and love, from one mama to another.

Wishing for the best for your beautiful little one. I have a 9 month old girl and 6 year old boy and can feel your pain in that you would die if anything happened to them.
My ds was very poorly in hospital on iv antibiotics when he was 1 with a suspected urine infection and I was so worried it could be something worse...the relief when he started recovering after 3 days of constant drugs and monitoring.

Take comfort in the fact that she knows you are her mummy and when you are with her, hold her little hands if you can.
I'm not a religious person but sending hope and love your way. Flowers

I’m so very sorry this is happening to you. Your love, your families love for her is something she has felt and the earlier post put it so beautifully that it is the most beautiful thing for her to see. I have no words really but I truly hope she pulls through this weekend, and I wish you all love, comfort and peace.

Breathe in, breathe out. Every time your mind spins off into future stories of horrible outcomes, bring yourself back to the breath and focus on this moment, now.

Wishing you all the strength you need, OP x
