Need advise.
we’re heading to a getaway tomorrow. Until Friday Not far from home. Inviting family.
however both my boys have a sickness bug, have since Friday and it’s still lingering. Despite me bleaching everything.
do we still go?
my youngest has just thrown up everywhere - my partners in a panic.
really not sure what to do.

No! You stay at home until they have been clear of symptoms for 48 hours.

Shouldbedoing · 19/10/2025 17:24

Cancel. Youll get it next!

Shouldbedoing · 19/10/2025 17:25

Also, I wouldn't want to join family who had very recently had a bug until several days had passed

Shouldbedoing · 19/10/2025 17:26

You may have free travel insurance as part of a bank account?

TomatoSandwiches · 19/10/2025 17:27

Cancel, have you got insurance?

bumwoes22 · 19/10/2025 17:29

Don’t do it. You won’t enjoy it if they are unwell. Even if they stop throwing up they could be off colour for a few days. You’ll probably get it next and it’s rubbish being ill away from home. Not to mention potentially infecting your family.

Puke in car seats is the worst.

youmustbeshittingme · 19/10/2025 17:29

You don’t go. Anything else would be really selfish and potentially miserable.

Figgygal · 19/10/2025 17:30

You stay home!!

Muchtoomuchtodo · 19/10/2025 17:31

If you can’t cancel and get your money back, I would let the family go that you were meant to be meeting there and join them when your house has been symptom free for 48 hours

stichguru · 19/10/2025 17:32

You all stay at home until no-one in the household has had sickness for 24 hours.

ThatLoyalBlueHare · 19/10/2025 17:32

Only thing is the booking is in our name - so we have to be there. But I’ll see what can be done. Thank you.

Obviously not, really don’t get why you are even asking? Hopefully you can join family in a few days.

slightlyoverbaked · 19/10/2025 17:33

do you even have to ask?

100% irrelevant to wether or not you go, but I doubt anywhere would force you to cancel for that reason, family just need to say oh they’ve been held up and will be here as soon as they can.

Jollyjoy · 19/10/2025 17:34

Totally sucks but agree you can’t be around others until 48hrs pass. Plus like others say, if it’s in the post for you which is unfortunately more likely when kids are so young they can’t aim for the loo, you don’t want to be away from home. What a pain.

ShesTheAlbatross · 19/10/2025 17:35

Of course you don’t go.

Children feeling sick don’t want to travel.
You might come down with it while away.
You’d be selfishly spreading it around.
If I was the family you were due to go away with, I wouldn’t go with you.

Zempy · 19/10/2025 18:21

Cancel and claim on insurance. 💐

BellissimoGecko · 19/10/2025 18:23

Even if the booking is in your name, why do you have to be there? Do the right thing, op. Don’t go.

Gentlydoesit2 · 19/10/2025 18:33

Don't go. So many sickness bugs going around at the moment. We had one a couple of weeks ago and no matter how much I cleaned and washed everything in the house I still ended up being violently ill with it, making all 4 of us!! You'll only pass it on which is very selfish I'm afraid

autienotnaughty · 19/10/2025 18:35

I’d consider-
anyone vulnerable going?
would your children be well enough to travel?
do either of you feel ill?
when you tell family are they the stay away type from us type or not bothered?
Could one of you still go ? (If family are happy)
could you go in a day or two?

Eggybreadwithnuts · 19/10/2025 18:39

No cancel because...
They are ill
They could contaminate others
You just want your own bed when you are ill
All you will do is clean and bleach

Stay at home.

Jitterbuggs · 19/10/2025 18:39

Don't go! Can you imagine the hell of multiple people sick and worse in a holiday rental?

No it’s shitty to ask anyone if they would mind you passing a stomach bug onto them. Use common sense and don’t go

Starlight7080 · 19/10/2025 18:43

No . Not in a million years. It will spread to the other people who are going .

HonoriaBulstrode · 19/10/2025 18:52

It will spread to the other people who are going .

And possibly to the next people to use the accommodation.

Stay home and let the other family members use the accommodation if possible.

If I was them, I'd be very pissed off - no, make that absolutely raging - if you knowingly brought a sickness bug along to a family get together.
