hello,
I’ve just collected my daughter from school, she’s been on a school trip to Paris this week!
she’s shown me her ankles and said it appeared last night after lots of walking! What could it be? It appears very swollen

As it goes all around at a guess maybe socks or leggings cuff were too tight? Was she wearing boots?

Chaffing?

I thought that maybe the socks were too tight and has caused swelling! I’ll see if it goes down!

Possibly though the bottom of her legs look so swollen! I’ll keep an eye on her! Thank you! 😊

Hoping to bump my post as it’s getting stranger I’m unsure whether to ring 111 if it’s varicose veins?! Photos not the best 🤦‍♀️
but this has appeared on her leg beside her knee along with a pin prick rash on her feet 🤷‍♀️

Looked like a huge vein! The photos not great but today it’s bruised, going to phone Gp in the morning to see what they say as it’s came out of nowhere and as she’s been travelling for a long number of hours just want to get it checked.

Is it hot to the touch? Is it both legs or just one?

Did you call 111? It does seem a bit odd. Is she otherwise well?

I thought it was very odd too! She’s fine in herself had a phone consultation with the Gp and sent some photos he wasn’t concerned and said only to take her straight in if the bruising spreads or appears elsewhere 🤷‍♀️

Not hot to touch but warmer than the rest of her leg the bruising is just one leg

Did she fly? Or long coach trip? Just wondering if there's a chance of DVT but assume the GP would have considered that.

this was our concern but the Gp said the bruise looked old even though if explained it appeared overnight 🤷‍♀️.

Cellulitis? warm to touch, redness spreading 'tracking' up the leg, swelling. Sometimes as a result of an insect bite. Needs antibiotics usually.

Possibly, I think it’s spreading slightly so will call GP tomorrow

I guess it could be a superficial thrombosis? I get these but then I have dodgy veins. And the first picture makes me think something might be going on with the circulation in the legs. I think you should maybe seek a second opinion, especially as you said it looks to be spreading. Hope you get her sorted soon.

Thank you I’ll call the GP again tomorrow, I feel like a nuisance keep calling, I had to call about a different issue today, was told to go to Minor injuries which wasn’t seeing anymore patients due to lack of staff, it’s so sad to see what’s happening to our nhs. But i will be back on the phone to the Gp tomorrow

Yes I would. You are obviously still worrying so you need peace of mind if nothing else.

Hi, she’s okay thank you! Was suffering pains on Friday so took her to the dr again but they’re not concerned. Actually I think they have no clue what it is 🤦‍♀️

So today she’s played football and her shins have turned purple again! I feel like such a pest calling the drs 🤦‍♀️

Have you talked to them about possible cellulitis?

Take her temp and record it. Take photo. Repeat each time it happens so you have data to present to doctor
