Quickest way to get rid of painful verruca- child

I have a child who is an avid footballer and has a verruca. I was planning on sticking Bazuka on it across the summer ;outside of football season) but he’s now telling me it’s hurting when he puts pressure on it.

What’s the quickest way to get rid of it so it’s not sore for weeks and weeks and weeks?

I wouldn't wait for season to be over. It needs treating ASAP with bazucca cream. Put it on each night and file it down the next day before re applying. Also go onto the sporners corner section for more advice if you are not squeamish...

Forhecksake · 15/02/2024 22:14

I used to reduce mine with a file or nail scissors when it got painful to relieve the pressure.

Not quick but I taped banana skin to my daughter’s and it fell off. Obviously I discovered this tip on here.

Salactol is the only think which worked for us. OTC from chemist.

FuckinghellthatsUnbelievable · 15/02/2024 22:36

I just wartnered it with freezing stuff.

Me too. But also cider apple vinegar - filed with a fresh cheap emery board each night, taped cotton wool soaked in vinegar, took it off in the morning.

Geppili · 15/02/2024 22:41

It will need debriding.

Applesandpears23 · 15/02/2024 22:44

Quickest but not cheapest is to go to a podiatrist who will be able to remove it in a couple of weeks no problem.

RockStarship · 15/02/2024 22:48

I tried a whole bunch of stuff with my dd but nothing worked. Then I discovered the Scholl Verucca and Wart Treatment. I think it says use twice a day but I only did it once a day, but it still got rid of the verucca within 2-3 weeks. And by getting rid of the verucca I mean it literally ejected it from her foot and it dropped out in a small lump. Definitely worth a shot.

I had a verruca for 14 fucking years. I tried every single thing in the world. Then someone on here suggested keeping it cover with nail varnish for two weeks. It was a miracle. Went and had never come back.

PuttingDownRoots · 15/02/2024 22:56

We used bakuka extŕ strength... and filed every night, hard (except if she had a game on the Sunday, then we skipped Saturday night) Really irritated it. You need to make the body realise its there.

Moier · 15/02/2024 22:56

Duct tape.. recommended by a GP regularly on TV.

Also recommend nail varnish.
I had tried everything then read that on MN and it cleared it up almost immediately.
I just used clear nail varnish every couple of days.

Diamond263 · 15/02/2024 23:00

Black nail varnish is easier and has the same affect as duct tape. Just reapply as needed, nice and easy. Has worked wonders here!

StarTwirl · 15/02/2024 23:04

Yes use Gorilla tape as it's really sticky

You need to prevent air getting to it hence tape

dizzydizzydizzy · 15/02/2024 23:05

I'm going to a podiatrist tomorrow
For verruca removal. They have some new bit of kit that used microwaves to removed them. I imagine it is going to be much less painful that the old fashioned freezing technique.

Fetaa · 15/02/2024 23:11

Neat teatree twice a day for a fortnight

MaloneMeadow · 15/02/2024 23:13

Quickest and most effective way is to freeze it off. You can get the freezing stuff over the counter (I used it for DD and it was great) or you can go to a podiatrist to have it done if you don’t fancy doing it yourself. Painful for a few seconds and then it’s all over, no more verruca!

We tried all of the topical treatments but in the end this was the only thing that really worked

Nail varnish didn’t work here but silver nitrate stick did and was
not painful at all. I filed it down and applied it then left for a few weeks. Needed one further application and all done. It had been there for years!

Zoomzoomzoomweregoingtothemoon · 15/02/2024 23:21

But it did stain a towel!

JamMakingWannaBe · 15/02/2024 23:26

Don't bother with the regular bazuka. As PP, you need the extra strength stuff. A 2 year out of date tube from my PIL's bathroom cabinet did in 3 days what the regular stuff hadn't done in about 6 months.

paulhollywoodshairgel · 15/02/2024 23:39

Black nail varnish. Dropped off within a week

ActualWordSalad · 15/02/2024 23:57

I second the Bazuka freezing stuff linked to by @MaloneMeadow

It was the first thing we tried and fortunately worked very well.

It was quite painful but only very momentarily. Also rather expensive.
