A bit sore where skin has come off but not athletes foot I don't think? Not itchy or in-between toes

Both feet are the same!

Does it smell?
I think I'd want that looked at tbh.

Thislittlepiggylikeschocolate · 30/08/2023 22:56

No. I got pretty close for the photo... I could ask pharmacy tomorrow

Trench foot from sweaty trainers, shoes. Best see the doctor

jellycat · 30/08/2023 22:58

You’re right, it doesn’t look like athlete’s foot.

I don’t know what it is though - I think I’d consult a pharmacist initially, or ask to see at nurse at your GP practice.

Iammetoday · 30/08/2023 22:58

My dd has had similar abd pharmacy said athletes foot, it did clear up with the cream although she's got ut back now

PurposefulBear · 30/08/2023 22:58

Are you sure s/he hasn’t used one of those foot peel masks you can buy? The do this very same thing …

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 30/08/2023 22:58

What have they been wearing on their feet? My DD went through a welly phase and the skin on her feet came off - think it was due to lack of air to her feet!

Workingmumchaos · 30/08/2023 22:59

Ugh! Teenagers are grim lol 😂

No idea what it is but a sunny holiday on a beach would sort that right out. Maybe replicate that 🤣 Put some salt in the bath and get a sand pit for the living room. Ban socks and shoes.

Jandanric · 30/08/2023 22:59

Has he had covid recently ? My foot has been like that since I had covid, the same foot burns and goes red occasionally too ?

Thislittlepiggylikeschocolate · 30/08/2023 23:01

He's been away with his dad. The first question I asked was had he worn socks! Apparently he did.
I always thought althetes foot was itchy and a bit more red
This is sheets of skin coming off

As PurposefulBear said this looks exactly like a post footner foot. Raynauds syndrome sufferers can also get this but it’s not the presenting symptom. I suspect a chemical foot peel tbh

Thislittlepiggylikeschocolate · 30/08/2023 23:03

@PurposefulBear
Just like a foot peel! Can guarantee he has not done this 😂

Interesting answers, my dd has been living in trainers lately and I do think it's trench foot! Sweaty feet. My dd was definitely as bad as that, didn't hurt or itch

Wincher · 30/08/2023 23:03

There’s a thing called sweaty sock syndrome which I think my son has which looks like this - peeling scaly feet. Only cure I think is moisturiser and getting older!

Thislittlepiggylikeschocolate · 30/08/2023 23:04

Trench foot!!! Omg off to google

wobblymum1 · 30/08/2023 23:05

This is what my daughter’s feet looked like after scarlet fever (but you’d have known if he’d had that)

BarbaraWoodlouse · 30/08/2023 23:07

DS (13) had similar, most acute after a sweaty school trip walking around Paris in 30 degree heat wearing trainers.

PurposefulBear · 30/08/2023 23:07

From google

Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis is a condition that causes excessive sweating. When it affects the feet, it may cause peeling. This can happen if the skin is frequently wet.
Treatments include:

  • prescription-strength aluminum chloride antiperspirant
  • iontophoresis, which involves passing a low-voltage electrical current through water and into the bottom of the feet
  • medications to reduce sweating
A doctor may also want to investigate the underlying cause. Some people may sweat more than others naturally, but it can also be a symptom of another condition or a side effect of a medication.

similar to trench foot

Thehippowife · 30/08/2023 23:07

My dd used to get this wearing tights to school. It’s sweat causing the skin to die off. Get lots of air to his feet and buy some medicated powder from Amazon to keep the foot dry.

Thislittlepiggylikeschocolate · 30/08/2023 23:10

He's not a sweaty person generally....I think it is due to wearing trainers for too long.

OP posts:
Thislittlepiggylikeschocolate · 30/08/2023 23:11

Medicated powder sounds good 👍

tumtitum · 30/08/2023 23:26

He hasn't been on antibiotics recently has he? I once had this as a reaction to doxycycline

Sugarcoatt · 30/08/2023 23:31

My feet once peeled off like that after a very sweaty holiday in a hot climate. Never happened again. I’d just remove the loose skin, moisturise and let it heal.
