Stomach bugs

How contagious is a child prior to the actual vomiting starting? Some complaints of feeling nauseous but well enough to have gone to football club after school. Vomited once home.

My child sat next to this child in class today. Wondering how likely it is we will end up with it. We have big plans on Sunday!!

I think prepare for worst 😬

How old are they? 5 year olds with slightly more dubious hand washing might be more of a risk than 15 year olds.

As far as I know you are infectious just before the vomiting starts .

@MissHoollie I really hope you're right. We've only just got over the terrible cold/cough bug and have a big day planned for Sunday!

I hate sickness bugs! Yuck. Because of this I have obsessively googled this subject.

The actual contagious bug is in the vomit and poop so contagious as soon as they're sick/trots. You catch it from inhaling particles from pooh or sick (as far as I aware).

I hope you avoid it, I don't always catch these bugs now I'm super strict about hand washing.

@Mondayblues23 thank you! Let's just hope then that he didn't secretly have diarrhoea at school and not tell anyone.

I think I shall prepare for the worst (eg find the spare bedding and get the sick bowl ready) and hope for the best!!

In case anyone reads this and wonders the outcome.... we swerved it this time somehow! It's still going round the class though so I'm sure we'll have our turn!

Lucky you my 4 year woke up at 12 last night and has been sick ever since. She cant keep nothing down as soon as anything hits her tummy she throws it back been almost 24 hours and another night on the sofa. And it was just before xmas that her and her sisters had a sickness bug so just over 2 months ago. Im hoping the others dont get it.

Sick bugs are the worst! My daughter caught one on NYE genuinely 2 minutes to midnight 🙈 it was 6 days before I caught it and I had it for a week but had flu too. I can deal with anything but sick 🤢

I hate the waiting game on who is going to get it next and what food to eat incase you bring back up lol. I hate sick also but have to clean up thats why i love black bags as everything goes in there and in the bin .

@rach2713 oh nooooo - sorry to hear that. I hope she's over the worst soon. And hope nobody else gets it!
I have twins who share a room (and pretty much everything else) and have on occasion had 1 with a stomach bug and the other didn't catch it, so it's not a given! Everything crossed for you.

Shes seems to be over it now but we are on round two now her 6 year old sister woke at 6 this morning with it. So looks like my washing machine and dryer will be none stop again today lol. I just wish if they were to get it then they would all at once not days apart lol.

Mine have all of a sudden come down with really sore throats this evening 🤦🏻‍♀️

Oh no thats not good. Hope everyone is ok. Just seems one thing after the other dont it. There is also hand foot and mouth going round my daughters nursery so really dont want to put her back yet.

@wobblymum1 sadly I think it probably is tonsillitis. They both have temps now and 1 is complaining of tummy ache... which she did last time she had tonsillitis too

my dd1 gets tummy aches and temps with it too. poor you. Hope you can get some sleep with a mix of calpol and nurofen. Is it a
high temp? Mum in solidarity here as my dd6 gets tonsillitis at the drop of a hat and it’s rotten. Let us know how they are in the morning x

The night was terrible, they twin tagged all night so although they each got some sleep, I got none!

Waiting for an appointment at out of hours to hopefully get antibiotics - shame it's a half hour journey to our nearest one!

One of them was borderline for needing them apparently, but they said they hoped she would fight it off herself!

i always find this happens with mine and I end up having to go back and eventually get them 🙄really hope they feel better soon and you can get some sleep tonight 💞

So annoying. I don't want her to miss too much school and so thought if we could start antibiotics today then she'd only have to miss a day or two
