DLA Mandatory Reconsideration 2023

Hi, I’ve been following the DLA wait times thread since I applied for my 7 year old son in October. We had the decision yesterday and it was declined 😭 I was absolutely devastated.

We applied because my son was involved in a serious RTC (we were going on holiday with our friends, he wanted to travel in their car following us, a car came round a bend missed us but hit them head on) understandably he struggles with the fact he was the only one in the car and blames us for letting him in there). He was the only one awake and conscious in the vehicle, he has chronic flashbacks, normal everyday life things (sirens, bangs, travelling, weather conditions and so on are triggers) they send him into a state of survival and all his rational thinking is gone. Nights are horrendous for him, he lives like his life is in constant threat, he fights sleep and often gets dressed in the middle of the night so he’s ready should anything bad happen. Flashbacks are more prominent through the night.

school are aware of his issues. Now he’s under CAMHS school have been asked to stop any mental health interventions as this could interrupt the trauma therapy. hes happy at school because of the structure and routine, no real unpredictability etc.

anyway I’ve done this tread for anyone going through MR and hope we can all support each other through the process!

Just rang for update MR was done on 18th April was told not to ring until Oct as now 25 week wait, been waiting 18 weeks already! Wouldn't transfer me to case manager and wouldn't tell me what date they are working on, she did say mine hasn't even been sent to a decision maker yet in a que waiting.

this is getting ridiculous now , I was told they was working on the 17th last Monday so I can’t see why yours hasn’t even been seen . Wow this is shocking tbh x

Nope had nothing , wanted to know what date they was working on and wouldnt tell me , had someone say on the phone they emailed a note over last week and there’s still no rush . Looks like it’s still a long ass wait for our baby’s needs Xx

It's just completey unbelievable, they told me 2 weeks ago another week and you should have a decision that was a case manger, now they are saying don't ring until 10th October I could bloody cry so stressed waiting I just want to know, my son is not even receiving any payments as lost it all at renewal, they just say what they want to get you off the phone now!!

I agree! Any one on here who wants to try ringing to see what date there at I beg 🙏 u get someone nice enough to tell u . 8 weeks we was told firstly . It’s crap! X

I was told 4 then 8, 12, 15 now 25!! It's wrong all wrong!!

Have you had a letter stating 25 weeks I had the letter for 8 , 12 n 15 but not for 25 weeks .. I think it’s to stop us calling x

No I've not received a letter and tbh think I just got a grumpy one today as I rang back general enquiries as she told me too ring them if I wanted to speak to a case manager, I spoke to a lovely lady who told me on the 13th Aug there was a note put on saying mine will be done in 2 weeks from that date (13th) so fingers crossed 🤞 and she said the guidelines is 15 weeks maybe abit over. She said they are going to txt me when it's done, so hopefully I'll not wait much longer, hope everyone else waiting soon hears too. 😊

Any news today ? I’m going to ring general enquiries see if I get any other information x

I haven't called today, waiting a few days as fed up of the disappointment every time I call 🤣 did you manage to speak to anyone and get any info? X

Think I’m to scared to phone up now as everyone is saying 27 weeks if refused again that gonna be tribunal but there waiting time is 1year 6 months my friend still waiting after all this time too 😣 what a nightmare for everyone who waiting to get help with there little ones good luck everyone

I know how you feel, what date did you do MR? I will be at tribunal stage if I get refused too 😩 it's just so stressful though and such a long wait! I hope everyone gets the outcomes they deserve and quickly too ❤️ x

That the timeline is 15 weeks but are a few weeks behind told me another 10 days for it to be assigned to someone 😞 loooonnngggg assssss waiitttt !!!!! X

What date did you do your MR? I'm 18 weeks tomorrow so may ring and see if it's moved at all!!

Yh see if it’s been moved I’m the 29th April for scan date so 16+2 . General enquiries seem to help and be a lot nicer than the mr staff 🤷‍♀️ x

I called today and yes it change 25 weeks she said there no time schedule 😂 looking at nov time 🫣what a nightmare with this they clearly like making people wait it was quicker new claim only took 12 weeks

Mr staff are saying 25 weeks did u get through to general enquiries ? You get alot more info on that line

What the difference? I rang the number on the letter then went through options 2 isn’t that right number ?

Hi, those who wrote to submit their MR, what address did you send it to? I’ve got two different addresses and not sure which one to send it to!
“post handling site B” or “disability benefit centre 4 at post handling site B”???

I kept selecting option 2 and got no where on the mandatory reconsideration option if you wait it’ll ask u to press a number for general enquiries and they will tell you more xx
