DLA Mandatory Reconsideration 2023

Hi, I’ve been following the DLA wait times thread since I applied for my 7 year old son in October. We had the decision yesterday and it was declined 😭 I was absolutely devastated.

We applied because my son was involved in a serious RTC (we were going on holiday with our friends, he wanted to travel in their car following us, a car came round a bend missed us but hit them head on) understandably he struggles with the fact he was the only one in the car and blames us for letting him in there). He was the only one awake and conscious in the vehicle, he has chronic flashbacks, normal everyday life things (sirens, bangs, travelling, weather conditions and so on are triggers) they send him into a state of survival and all his rational thinking is gone. Nights are horrendous for him, he lives like his life is in constant threat, he fights sleep and often gets dressed in the middle of the night so he’s ready should anything bad happen. Flashbacks are more prominent through the night.

school are aware of his issues. Now he’s under CAMHS school have been asked to stop any mental health interventions as this could interrupt the trauma therapy. hes happy at school because of the structure and routine, no real unpredictability etc.

anyway I’ve done this tread for anyone going through MR and hope we can all support each other through the process!

xxx

Ll333 · 22/05/2024 17:02

Just spoke to them they said a decision has been made but need to wait for a letter they won’t tell me over the phone. Never heard of that!

Starlight0212 · 22/05/2024 20:27

They said that to me then ask to be transferred to some one who can tell you they told me over phone which was declined so I put mr in to be told 4 weeks but sound like longer from everyone else that here

Ll333 · 22/05/2024 21:23

That was my MR which is very annoying but I’ll just wait it out. If not I’ll do the appeal. Mine took 14 weeks good luck 🤞🏽

Rang again today, said it’s still with a decision maker (been with a decision maker since last week) and could be another few weeks until the make a decision but to wait for a letter with the outcome

user1497874196 · 31/05/2024 11:57

Iv had a missed call this morning from DWP. I'm on week 13 of a MR iv called the normal number as I haven't had a text or anything to say why they called. But they say my case isn't with a decision maker yet and there are no notes to say why someone has called me. Has anyone else had this? Thank you x

Anyone had any updates?

Ll333 · 03/06/2024 18:41

Received my letter today it was awarded but not what I asked for don’t know if I have the energy to go any further. Which is what they want I suppose

Girlmumm123 · 04/06/2024 06:42

It is so draining but keep fighting for what you know your child deserves. Isn't not better supporter than the one that cares for them

Hope your ok, it’s hard but you gotta keep fighting, did they read all your evidence what was the reasoning, my reasoning didn’t make sense so called them and they changed the reward

Nonamenoplacetogo · 05/06/2024 12:51

I have been following the thread as applied for MR after being turned down in Feb. hadn't heard anything for weeks and woke up to a DLA payment in my account. I'm still in shock I think.

Beckylouise000 · 05/06/2024 13:48

@Nonamenoplacetogo what date did you put in for your mr?im on week 12 of waiting to hear back now
