DLA Mandatory Reconsideration 2023

Hi, I’ve been following the DLA wait times thread since I applied for my 7 year old son in October. We had the decision yesterday and it was declined 😭 I was absolutely devastated.

We applied because my son was involved in a serious RTC (we were going on holiday with our friends, he wanted to travel in their car following us, a car came round a bend missed us but hit them head on) understandably he struggles with the fact he was the only one in the car and blames us for letting him in there). He was the only one awake and conscious in the vehicle, he has chronic flashbacks, normal everyday life things (sirens, bangs, travelling, weather conditions and so on are triggers) they send him into a state of survival and all his rational thinking is gone. Nights are horrendous for him, he lives like his life is in constant threat, he fights sleep and often gets dressed in the middle of the night so he’s ready should anything bad happen. Flashbacks are more prominent through the night.

school are aware of his issues. Now he’s under CAMHS school have been asked to stop any mental health interventions as this could interrupt the trauma therapy. hes happy at school because of the structure and routine, no real unpredictability etc.

anyway I’ve done this tread for anyone going through MR and hope we can all support each other through the process!

They are having system issues again so the cant help with any enquiries Three times in a weeks maybe they should stop calls like last week rather than having people on hold for an hour to say sorry we can’t look at anything

I got a letter over the weekend saying it’s taking up to 15 weeks to make a decision if this helps anyone out at all😩

They working on 16th feb so another couple of weeks they said for 22nd

@Beckylouise000 I wouldn't listen to there letters they just do it to stop you calling for updates as my other sons was made at week 9 or 10 n currently on week 12 for my other at moment and they both was scanned on the same day

I'd better ring haven't had anything and MR scan date is the 12/2 😅

Still nothing and was 13 weeks yesterday

Just done my weekly call they said they are working on week of the 20th feb and should be with a case manager in the next week.

Starting to wonder if they have lost our case are scan date is 12th of Feb and every time I ring they say it's still open and no decision

they put me through to a case manager so maybe ask to speak to them

Just spoke with a case manager she said it's with a decision maker

does anyone know who I need to ring to update mr?spoke to 6 different people today who just passed me from one person to the next and need to update about diagnosis and medication thanks

@Beckylouise000 I wouldn't know I normally go opinion 1 then 5 then 2 and then they are normally the MR team that I've spoken to about evidence ect but as it been passed 8 weeks they know have to pass me though to another team. Sorry not much help

Anyone had any updates week 14 today or MR and still haven't heard 🫣

Hi I also have requested a mandatory reconsideration that was scanned the 8th March, so I’m guessing my decision will be another few weeks from your guys posts

Hi Iv been reading your messages everyone my scan date 18 jan was refused on 7 may put mr on 16 may got message n 17 saying 4 weeks ?

i have all proof on my daughter bowel syndrome plus autism and medical doctor still got rejected i was told they don’t even read your documents properly so don’t give up keep fighting and good luck

Update.... MR scan date 12th of February rang today for an update and was told by a case manager my son was awarded LRM and LRC the 15th of may has taken 13 weeks and 2 days, case manager said to take it all the way to tribunal for higher care allowance but I need to wait for my letters to come with all the information.

Please could I have advise on tribunal for disputing care rate?
