DLA Mandatory Reconsideration 2023

Hi, I’ve been following the DLA wait times thread since I applied for my 7 year old son in October. We had the decision yesterday and it was declined 😭 I was absolutely devastated.

We applied because my son was involved in a serious RTC (we were going on holiday with our friends, he wanted to travel in their car following us, a car came round a bend missed us but hit them head on) understandably he struggles with the fact he was the only one in the car and blames us for letting him in there). He was the only one awake and conscious in the vehicle, he has chronic flashbacks, normal everyday life things (sirens, bangs, travelling, weather conditions and so on are triggers) they send him into a state of survival and all his rational thinking is gone. Nights are horrendous for him, he lives like his life is in constant threat, he fights sleep and often gets dressed in the middle of the night so he’s ready should anything bad happen. Flashbacks are more prominent through the night.

school are aware of his issues. Now he’s under CAMHS school have been asked to stop any mental health interventions as this could interrupt the trauma therapy. hes happy at school because of the structure and routine, no real unpredictability etc.

anyway I’ve done this tread for anyone going through MR and hope we can all support each other through the process!

xxx

@82cem
I just think they're making it harder for older kids with no clue what's normal or not. Infuriating really

Just wondering how do you go to tribunal
If mrs are declined as I have no clue how to do it thanks

Jneill2021 · 20/02/2024 11:51

@Sarahdestiny I had a decision couple weeks ago they changed there mind and awarded, I think the letter you recieve after the Mr will have the details on how to proceed with tribunal x

Sarahdestiny · 20/02/2024 16:46

@Jneill2021 thank you for reply Doesn't seem like anyone comes on this group like all the others lol x

82cem · 20/02/2024 20:06

@Sarahdestiny yes, there are details on how to move forward with an appeal on the back of the MR letter. I've decided to go ahead and appeal mine, when I've read into it again my daughter does cover criteria. I've spoken to school, they are not happy with how what they have said has been misconstrued, even to the point of me saying 'on the letter it says xyz' school said they didnt even say that. They have told me to appeal so I've got back intouch with CAB and I'm keeping everything crossed. Fingers crossed to anyone waiting.x

Mumzieof1 · 20/02/2024 21:12

Madmummy2016 · 22/02/2024 10:25

within the week you’ll get it. From there they always do that mine was with a dm for over a week. But it should all go in together even if you have been paid they don’t do it on your payment date if the miss it

I have still not recd anything from UC I called and asked they were reluctant to tell me anything and said it will be being calculated, its over a week now? Antone else had a wait for back payment from UC ?

Sarahdestiny · 23/02/2024 06:04
