DLA Mandatory Reconsideration 2023

Hi, I’ve been following the DLA wait times thread since I applied for my 7 year old son in October. We had the decision yesterday and it was declined 😭 I was absolutely devastated.

We applied because my son was involved in a serious RTC (we were going on holiday with our friends, he wanted to travel in their car following us, a car came round a bend missed us but hit them head on) understandably he struggles with the fact he was the only one in the car and blames us for letting him in there). He was the only one awake and conscious in the vehicle, he has chronic flashbacks, normal everyday life things (sirens, bangs, travelling, weather conditions and so on are triggers) they send him into a state of survival and all his rational thinking is gone. Nights are horrendous for him, he lives like his life is in constant threat, he fights sleep and often gets dressed in the middle of the night so he’s ready should anything bad happen. Flashbacks are more prominent through the night.

school are aware of his issues. Now he’s under CAMHS school have been asked to stop any mental health interventions as this could interrupt the trauma therapy. hes happy at school because of the structure and routine, no real unpredictability etc.

anyway I’ve done this tread for anyone going through MR and hope we can all support each other through the process!

@Jhtm I haven’t recieved anything from them, I sent MR signed for, they recieved 17/11, called today as 6 weeks tomorrow and still waiting to be looked at. 8 week wait apparently

@Jhtm i didnt receive anything from them to say they had my. MR. I did it over the phone and have since called to chase....My evidence has been lost, going to call next week for an update. My MR date is the 4th of Dec

Thanks I ended up ringing today to make sure they had it and they do, they said 3/4 weeks its taking but I know from this forum that’s not correct

@Jhtm my daughters MR was scanned on the 16/11 and I got a text 7/12 saying they had received it and a letter a couple of days after saying they had scanned it on the 16/11. I phoned before Christmas and they said 8 weeks to get looked at. Hope that helps x

Hi, first time posting here. My daughter is 3 and is awaiting a diagnosis of ASD, SPD and PICA. I first put in her DLA claim on 13/07/23 and it was refused! I then put in a mandatory reconsideration on 1/12/23 and have had a call today from the DM. She has finally been awarded, not sure of rates. The MR took 4 weeks and 1 day. Hope this helps anyone who is still waiting.

How long after this message do you hear back as it’s already been 4 weeks today since I did the mandatory reconsideration

Congratulations on anyone who has been awarded. I have called today and it is now 7 weeks for MR mine is nearly 6 weeks in and is with a decision maker hopefully not much longer for everyone 🤞

I just phoned and not been looked at. She said 8 weeks to me just to get to DM. Scan date is the 16/11. So 7 weeks tomorrow x

I called today (received 15/11) and no decision. She said another 2 weeks

Hi All, just found out that my daughter went from a 0 reward to HRC. Just goes to show that a DM can get it wrong! Don’t lose hope, I’m praying that you all get what your children deserve x

@Keddie I managed to get through after an hour and 40 minutes I'm sure the time just gets worse lol all the man said was it was scanned 7th Dec and can take up to 8 weeks, the waiting is driving me crazy I began all this in May last year its so draining. Hopefully they gey back to you soon they just seem really hit and miss with dates tbh x

@Anonymous1993x no extra evidence sent but I did write a 14 page letter addressing each reason they wrote for declining her in the first place. I read that they have a target to decline a certain amount of claims each month but I don’t know how true that is x
