DLA Mandatory Reconsideration 2023

Hi, I’ve been following the DLA wait times thread since I applied for my 7 year old son in October. We had the decision yesterday and it was declined 😭 I was absolutely devastated.

We applied because my son was involved in a serious RTC (we were going on holiday with our friends, he wanted to travel in their car following us, a car came round a bend missed us but hit them head on) understandably he struggles with the fact he was the only one in the car and blames us for letting him in there). He was the only one awake and conscious in the vehicle, he has chronic flashbacks, normal everyday life things (sirens, bangs, travelling, weather conditions and so on are triggers) they send him into a state of survival and all his rational thinking is gone. Nights are horrendous for him, he lives like his life is in constant threat, he fights sleep and often gets dressed in the middle of the night so he’s ready should anything bad happen. Flashbacks are more prominent through the night.

school are aware of his issues. Now he’s under CAMHS school have been asked to stop any mental health interventions as this could interrupt the trauma therapy. hes happy at school because of the structure and routine, no real unpredictability etc.

anyway I’ve done this tread for anyone going through MR and hope we can all support each other through the process!

xxx

Rebeccachloe · 04/01/2024 15:37

@Keddie I spoke to them today and they said they understand the frustration, I put in for change of circumstance May last year and came back in November with no change, so straight in for MR recieved and scanned on 17/11 and still nothing, guy I spoke to said could be beginning of Feb for a decision! Such a long time waiting it’s so frustrating!

Keddie · 05/01/2024 15:29

Just spoke to a lovely lady called Caroline was super helpful! my MR is currently at 5 weeks she advised its now taking up to 7 weeks. In addition to this she also advised (so everyone is aware) if you dont get a text up date you will more then likely see the money in your bank before receiving a letter due to short staff at the post office. hope this helps? god luck everyone xx

Anonymousks1984 · 08/01/2024 10:49

Hi everyone has anybody heard anything from their MR yet? My scan date was 25/11 and was told last Tuesday it is with a DM called back today and still no decision. Does anyone know how long DM take to make a decision? Thanks

Keddie · 08/01/2024 16:25

@Jneill2021 They actually called me back ! still lost the evidence. Advised that an investigation was launched to find it on the 18th of December and they have a strict 3 week window to find it, which is the next few days. So I am hoping to hear this week. Fingers crossed! If anyone else has had an issue with lost paperwork gt in touch asap. Anything before the 7th of Dec not scanned on would be classed as lost now xx
