DLA Mandatory Reconsideration 2023

Mumofboysteamginge · 11/02/2023 10:58

Hi, I’ve been following the DLA wait times thread since I applied for my 7 year old son in October. We had the decision yesterday and it was declined 😭 I was absolutely devastated.

We applied because my son was involved in a serious RTC (we were going on holiday with our friends, he wanted to travel in their car following us, a car came round a bend missed us but hit them head on) understandably he struggles with the fact he was the only one in the car and blames us for letting him in there). He was the only one awake and conscious in the vehicle, he has chronic flashbacks, normal everyday life things (sirens, bangs, travelling, weather conditions and so on are triggers) they send him into a state of survival and all his rational thinking is gone. Nights are horrendous for him, he lives like his life is in constant threat, he fights sleep and often gets dressed in the middle of the night so he’s ready should anything bad happen. Flashbacks are more prominent through the night.

school are aware of his issues. Now he’s under CAMHS school have been asked to stop any mental health interventions as this could interrupt the trauma therapy. hes happy at school because of the structure and routine, no real unpredictability etc.

anyway I’ve done this tread for anyone going through MR and hope we can all support each other through the process!

xxx

@Girlmum3110 we’ve been waiting since June too. It seems so drawn out I just hope we all hear before christmas.

has anyone heard anything today?

Girlmum3110 · 12/12/2023 15:58

@ARH36 haven’t heard anything. I might phone tomorrow as I have extra evidence to send in and no point in sending if it’s already with DM. Would be so much easier if they did emails not post. It really is a long process x

ARH36 · 12/12/2023 18:30

@Girlmum3110 i would try calling, anything that could help your award is worth sending in. Let us know how you get on 🤞

Mojo161989 · 13/12/2023 16:42

Called again today as they hadn't recieved my further evidence for the MR, they still haven't scanned that they have recieved it and it was recorded delivered on the 27th of November, im assuming this is lost, so frustrating. Also won't hear till January, I need to get the evidence resent now, this is so stressful xox

ARH36 · 14/12/2023 05:01

@Mojo161989 oh bless you! That’s such an awful long time for them not to scan them in. Hope you can get this resolved asap

Girlmum3110 · 15/12/2023 08:32

Has anyone had any updates? I phoned Wednesday and he said to send the extra evidence and that I should find out this side of Christmas, which seems highly unlikely. 4 weeks and 1 day today. Getting fed up with the waiting and I think it’s going to be another decline 😫 x

ARH36 · 15/12/2023 09:15

Hi everyone. Found out this morning that DS has been awarded HRC on Wednesday. Did the MR on the 07/11. It’s taken 5 weeks and 1 day. Good luck to everyone!

@Girlmum3110 i would send the evidence today by first class recorded, they will have it by Monday 🤞

Girlmum3110 · 15/12/2023 09:31

@ARH36 Such good news. I’m going to do that so fingers crossed x

Mojo161989 · 15/12/2023 09:54

@ARH36 amazing news, im on hold now to see if they have my evidence that was signed for on 27th November, and ask if I need to send it again if not. Very frustrating xox

Mojo161989 · 15/12/2023 10:42

Again the lady said not been scanned as recieved, and that no point sending it again as its Christmas post, so won't get there before it's looked at. Now I'm concerned the MR will be a decline without the extra evidence. Xox

Girlmum3110 · 15/12/2023 13:28

@Mojo161989 Did you send evidence in with your MR or did you do it over the phone? I sent MR form in with evidence but got another piece of evidence. The guy I spoke to on Wednesday said send it in and that hopefully be looked at before Christmas. So not sure which one will be correct in what they are saying x

Mojo161989 · 16/12/2023 16:43

@Girlmum3110 I did the MR over the phone and sent the evidence a couple of days later, been chasing it up all week and they still haven't got it, they said the MR should be done within 3-4 weeks so concerned the evidence won't be looked at before a decision is made. Xox

Girlmum3110 · 16/12/2023 18:05

@Mojo161989 Maybe send again but recorded and signed for. Mine is four weeks and 2 days and not with DM. So I think the time scales of 3 to 4 weeks are way off. I sent the MR form and evidence together and sent that recorded and signed for and got scanned a couple of days later. It’s crap they have lost it. The guy I spoke to on Wednesday said he has put note on to wait for my extra evidence. Maybe worth a call and say you will send again and not to look at it till it’s been scanned on x

Keddie · 18/12/2023 12:09

I just got off the phone to a lovely lady called Caroline. I started my MR on the 4th of December. I sent in extra evidence which was signed for on the 14th of November (still not scanned on and decision to decline was made without it) She has advised me it has been lost and she is contacting the postal team to search for it and will call me back. Any new evidence is being scanned on and they are working on December dates so if like me you have sent anything prior to December i would encourage you to check your tracking and call in. She advised it could take days to find but will call me to update once its found xx

Mojo161989 · 18/12/2023 14:23

@Keddie thanks for this, im calling now, my MR was done over the phone on the 22nd Nov, extra evidence sent and signed for on the 27th and they still hadn't received the evidence last week, but also told me there's no point in sending it in again. I'm confused xox

Jneill2021 · 18/12/2023 16:27

Anyone heard back lately about an Mr? X

Rebeccachloe · 18/12/2023 19:31

@Jneill2021 still waiting to hear, called today and they said it’s waiting to be looked at, they recieved it on 17/11

Keddie · 19/12/2023 09:31

They have lost my evidence signed for on the 14th of November, she promised me a call this week for an update. I started MR on the 4th of December

Anonymousks1984 · 20/12/2023 06:59

I called yesterday and she told me MR’s are now taking 8 weeks I was told 3/4 weeks when I put it in 4 weeks ago also been waiting since June

Keddie · 20/12/2023 10:54

@Mojo161989 I just called in again to chase for my evidence, still not found! Now advising me to re-send everything in to them again and then they can re-look at it. Confirmed to me its a 3 week process, I dont believe that for one second ! Have you heard anything at all @ARH36 any news? x

Girlmum3110 · 20/12/2023 15:24

I just phoned to see if they had recieved extra evidence I sent on Friday and it has been scanned on. She said MR are taking 8 weeks to get looked at. So it won’t get looked at till January now. I am on week 5 tomorrow x

Keddie · 21/12/2023 13:01

anyone had any news ?? x

Rebeccachloe · 21/12/2023 16:28

@Keddie still waiting to be looked at, spoke to them yesterday, apparently now taking 8 weeks for a decision. They recieved MR on 17/11

Mojo161989 · 21/12/2023 16:40

I called them today for an update, lady said they would look for the evidence I sent in on the 27th of Nov, was recorded delivery, so its most likely lost. So going to send it again, and the MRs are now taking 8 weeks. Xox

Jhtm · 28/12/2023 10:01

Did anyone get a txt or anything to say they had received the mandatory reconsideration? I sent mine on the 5th dec and not heard anything to say they have it
