@Thehenbunringsock

He chews on your shoe but you're worried about listeria from some pastry? Starting to wonder if this thread is a bit goady.
Indeed.

OP I remember this type of anxiety when my baby was a similar age.

It may be a one off but if you are worrying a lot it could be post natal anxiety (mine was!)

I did CBT through the Nhs for my awful anxiety and it has improved by 99%.
Just thought I'd reach out if this is an issue for you.

Is that really the ‘obvious’ thing to do though? Yes listeria is rare. It’s rare in all food, even cured meats and even less so in a flake of prepackaged pastry from a sausage roll. You might as well advise to ‘keep an eye on him’ and run to the hospital with a fever after eating any cold meal.

Weirdly aggressive of you! I think keeping an eye out and seeking medical advice if it appears necessary is the obvious thing to advise when a mother’s in a bit of a flap about something that’s happened to her baby or small child. Not because I think anything bad is going to happen, but because I find, when I’ve got a bit worked up about something, that reminding myself what I’ll do if something does go wrong can be quite calming. You might disagree, in which case just offer some other advice. Not everything needs to be competitive or a confrontation!

Some posters are just vile and think it's funny to poke fun at somebody's anxiety.

Don't worry about it. We've all had a wobble.
At 7 months they've shoved something in their mouth worse than a sausage roll.

It'll be alright Smile.

You don't have to feed him crap if you want want to. If he loves veggies that's great!

Don't want to*

GreyhoundG1rl · 01/07/2021 21:09

I don't agree, Rose. Cautioning someone to keep an eye and seek medical attention if required is actually suggesting that there's a possibility there may be a problem.
Totally unwarranted for a child who's eaten a flake of pastry.

RoseAndGeranium · 01/07/2021 21:39

The rest of my original post was entirely about how there was no need to worry! Complete with examples of worse things my own child has eaten without harm. I was hardly scare mongering.

MarianneUnfaithful · 01/07/2021 21:58

OP, commercial sausage roll isn’t an ideal healthy diet for a 7 month old due to fat, salt and being highly processed. And of course you are not going to make cheap (or any other) sausage rolls a regular thing.

And your Mum ought to back off feeding him such stuff.

But a few bites here and there won’t hurt, and as for the listeria issue, look here: www.nhs.uk/conditions/listeriosis/

@wassfd I also put it down to PFB but it was definitely more than that for me. Several worries every day that felt intrusive and I couldn't shake off (no matter how irrational). A regular feeling of dread that something bad would happen to my baby.
