Dd 13.5 no periods

TenCornMaidens · 21/08/2020 21:30

My dd is 13.5. We had a hospital appointment today and the nurse seems surprised that she hadn't started her periods yet. Another practitioner didn't blink an eye. But now I'm slightly wondering whether I should just check with the Dr....?

If she doesn’t start them next year I would maybe go. But it doesn’t strike me as unusual just now.

LucyLocketsPocket · 21/08/2020 21:37

I don't think this is anything to worry about. I'm sure she's still within the expected range.

olivo · 21/08/2020 21:53

My DD is 14 and none yet. I was 14 when I started. I hadn't thought it was anything to worry about.

MandalaYogaTapestry · 21/08/2020 21:54

Mine started at 15. No problems in that department ever since

mommymooo · 21/08/2020 21:55

I wouldn't worry at all I was nearly 15 till I got mine. X

puppypeach · 21/08/2020 21:57

I wouldn't worry about this at all. I didn't start until 15.5 and I'm currently 28 weeks pregnant so that must have been fine 😂

CaptainCorellisPangolin · 21/08/2020 21:57

Mine started at 12 but, of people I know, they've started anywhere between 9 and 16. I wouldn't have thought it was anything to worry about.

mumwon · 21/08/2020 21:58

dear god in heaven don't worry!
14 use to be normal/average
check with your women in your family
is she slender does is she athletic is she on any medications how much does she weigh & yes what ethnicity are you or your husband (Japanese & some girls from the Indian subcontinent can be 16 or OLDER)

theconstantinoplegardener · 21/08/2020 21:58

Is your DD very slim, or very active? These girls often start later.

AbyssusAbyssumInvocat · 21/08/2020 21:59

I started the summer between year 8 and 9. Not sure how old that is but think a similar age and my birthday is in summer. I wasn't the last either. I remember guidance at the time being any time before 18.

What age were you? I think it will be similar.

Itsatoughgig · 21/08/2020 22:01

NHS guidance is 16 for periods or 14 of no other signs of puberty. Hope that helps put your mind at rest.

mumwon · 21/08/2020 22:02

@AbyssusAbyssumInvocat that doesn't follow my dd took after their df family (I was early they were quite late)

ekidmxcl · 21/08/2020 22:04

What age did you start yours op?
Is she smaller/slimmer than peers?
It’s still very normal not to have started at this age.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 21/08/2020 22:04

I was 14. I'm hoping my dds are the same to be honest, I always feel sad when I read about girls starting at primary school age. Periods are shite!

If she's growing and showing other signs of healthy development I'd not worry.

TenCornMaidens · 21/08/2020 22:05

Thank you all, you are very kind to reassure me. She does have some other signs and is very slim (although not remotely active). I will put it out of my mind for another year! Thanks again. Flowers

I was a month of being 16 when mine started.

I so wanted them to start and then after about 3 of them I was like this is awful 🙈

TenCornMaidens · 21/08/2020 22:06

I started at 12 but physically she definitely takes after the women in my husband's family.

I was 14 too.

SamK93 · 21/08/2020 22:08

I was 15, the summer before year 11

Ha, same!

timetest · 21/08/2020 22:10

I was mid teens.

PushyMeez · 21/08/2020 22:13

I was 2 months off 15. Got pregnant easily every time and good pregnancies.

LilaButterfly · 21/08/2020 22:14

I didnt have it at 15, dr said to wait. At 16 they investigated.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 21/08/2020 22:32

Oh yes,I should say the pre-dd I had very easy periods really (they still suck though) and I had two quick to conceive pregnancies with no problems.

Alicenwonderland · 21/08/2020 22:37

I was nearly 16. I was just tall and skinny. I was getting worried as I was the last girl in my class to start my periods but my mum wasn't concerned.
