my 13 y/o daughter has been off school since monday due to constant throwing up, full body aches, coughing, cold sweat and a headache. today is her third day off and she has a doctors appointment in the morning for something different, however i was going to bring this up in order for medical advice and treatment. however, her high school have just called and told me she must attend tomorrow regardless of her physical state or i will be fined immediately. her school has a history of not sending children home when they are ill, especially if their attendance is not great, meaning if she throws up in school (which i have no doubt will occur) she will not be sent home. i worry because she is constantly crying due to being in immense pain yet i am having to send her to school, among other students who could get ill too, and forcing her to do work while in this state will not help her- she cannot concentrate on almost anything and is always tired. a friend told me i should ring them back and ‘kick off’ but i highly doubt they will change their mind! advice?Confused

I would beyond livid if a teacher turned up at my house to access if my child was actually unwell. They would not be seeing my child and might well be seeing a solicitor letter. I’m a teacher. This is totally unacceptable. We need a parents revolt on this kind of appalling behaviour. No wonder parents are withdrawing and home educating in their droves.

How is your DD today, she sounds very unwell?

LondonLassInTheCountry · 22/11/2018 22:49

Headache. Sickness.
Crying in pain.

Your daughter needs to see a doctor asap

DO NOT SEND HER TO SCHOOL

Where's the daily mail when you need it.....

How is she now? If she is unwell she should not be in school. I would refuse a fine in this situation

I’m shocked by this although not in the UK so not sure what the norm is. I’ve never, ever been put under any pressure for any of my Childrens absence from school. There is no way I would send a sick child to school because I was being put under pressure by the school. Your child so surely it’s your decision. Are you sure there is no backstory OP?
