How do I know if my baby's testicles are normal?

My 1yr olds testicles always look shrivelled up even when warm, how do I know what is normal? I was changing another babies nappy today and was shocked at how saggy and loose his testicles were!

If you are concerned go and see your doctor or health visitor.

DitchingTheDye · 30/08/2018 13:21

I'm not concerned. I want to know how to find out what is normal.

Any mama's of boys out there?

Your GP will be able to tell you if they are normal

DitchingTheDye · 30/08/2018 13:25

I know I can go to my GP. Anyone have any other insight?

Not sure random people on the Internet are going to want to describe their son's testicles.
Speak to your health visitor.

DitchingTheDye · 30/08/2018 13:31

Yeah, that's definitely not what I'm asking either!

Why ask strangers on the internet when there are trained HCPs for this? Confused

Thesearmsofmine · 30/08/2018 13:34

I’m not sure what you want people to say? I have three sons and won’t be describing their testicles on mumsnet. If I thought they weren’t how they should be I would take them to the GP to be checked.

BoobleMcB · 30/08/2018 13:36

HV, GP, SN any of those. No mama of boys could possibly tell you what is normal (unless they are also a health professional). Even if they have 4 boys, every child is not the same

NonaGrey · 30/08/2018 13:36

I know I can go to my GP. Anyone have any other insight?

I’m a “Mamma of boys”, I’ve given you as much insight as is appropriate to a stranger on an Internet forum.

What on Earth were you expecting?

DitchingTheDye · 30/08/2018 13:38

I'm not asking anyone to describe their babies testicles Confused Maybe I should rephrase the question. Is it normal for my son's testicles to look shrivelled up ("cold") even when he's warm? Actually, never mind. Have a nice day everyone.

Ok "mama's" I'm so sorry for asking a question!

LemonysSnicket · 30/08/2018 13:45

@DitchingTheDye you have to admit it's a creepy question.

Emmageddon · 30/08/2018 13:49

Surely you realise asking about infant genitals raises a red flag on here?

DitchingTheDye · 30/08/2018 13:49

I'm sorry if it sounds creepy. Literally any other health question I'm sure I'd get plenty of opinions! I've been to the gp months ago and he said all is normal then seeing this baby today really threw me.

I think the problem is that we only really know what we know - so we recognise our sons as the norm. We don't know what constitutes not normal.

If you're unsure you're gonna have to ask a professional.

DitchingTheDye · 30/08/2018 13:57

When I go back to the gp he will most likely say the same thing again so I'd like to know what's actually normal to push for the correct answers.

OP posts:
Numberofthemouse · 30/08/2018 15:00

What are 'the correct answers '?
Why don't you trust your GPs answer?
Health anxiety?

NonaGrey · 30/08/2018 15:00

The doctor will have seen far more baby boys than any of us.

If she/he says it’s normal, there you go.

I’m really unclear what more you’d get from a thread here, we (quite rightly) can’t see your son and damn sure aren’t going to describe ours.

CorneliusCrackers · 30/08/2018 15:04
Hmm
DemocracyDiesInDarkness · 30/08/2018 15:07

If you've asked a GP and they've said all is normal, why are you so convinced of the opposite?

DitchingTheDye · 30/08/2018 15:07

Ok so I understand now that this is not the place I will get an answer. To answer your questions I was expecting something along the lines of "My son was like that but he turned out fine" or "that doesn't sound right to me, could be bla bla bla". That was all. No detailed descriptions required!

OP posts:
DitchingTheDye · 30/08/2018 15:08

I am not so convinced of anything. I seen a babies scrotum today that was vastly different from my sons, which then reignited a former worry which I attended the go for. That is all!
