Would you be worried? Am i over thinking things?!

My dp doesn’t seem to be concerned but i am a complete worrier, esp over the health of my children due to losing my first child to a rare disease.

My 2 year old daughter has been complaining of a bellyache almost daily for a couple of months now, she suffered in the past with constipation and is on movicol to help with this. She hasn’t had movicol for a couple of weeks as since a stomach bug and a course of antibiotics for a throat infection she has been having loose stools.

She is still complaining of a bellyache. I have been back to the GP numerous times with her, seen 3 different GPs. The last one sent her for bloods which came back ok (full blood count, liver function and C-reactive protein), however i am still concerned, esp as a couple of days ago i noticed a small red dot on her ear, looks like a blood spot dp said. So i googled again and now i’m even more concerned. I am worrying nyself sick and making myself ill with all this.

Would you be concerned about an ongoing bellyache and now this blood spot on her ear? I don’t knkw what to do anymore.

I think if 3 GPs have said everything is fine you need to trust the medical experts.

It's understandable that you're worried after losing a child but it sounds to me as though it's your anxiety talking, rather than any real need to be concerned.

My 4 year old will often talk about tummyache. It often turns out that he just needs to do a poo and afterwards he's fine!

Given the three separate GPs and the tests done I think you're putting 2 and 2 together and making 63. My kids and I have all kinds of odd marks and they're not markers of anything sinister.
Bellyache can be hunger, overeaten, need a poo, wind. Etc etc.
have you had any help after the loss of your child? Any specific counselling etc to address anxiety etc?

Thank you. I haven’t seen anyone about my health anxiety but i definitely need to as its getting worse not better.
I had some counselling after my son died but found it made me worse, spending an hour going over what happened used to leave me in tears and having nightmares about the traumatic experience.

I'm not sure what you mean by a blood spot. Looks like a pimple to me. Kids get heat rash and eczema and chicken pox and bites. Nobody here can diagnose this and I have zero medical expertise.
A pharmacist can always have a look if you're worried.
Counselling for anxiety isn't the same as what you mentioned. It's not trawling over the (horribly traumatic past). It's examining how you think and act now and working on that. Really is worth looking into CBT or similar.

Hi op, sorry I can't advise on the war spot but my dd was the same with the tummy ache which began at a similar age. She saw a paediatrician (on several occasions over around a year as they wanted to follow her up) and they couldn't really find anything other than it was probably caused by constipation. Tried to get movicol down her but she hated it, so just tried to manage it with diet, but I didn't feel it was constipation. Eventually got prescribed ranitidine for acid reflux and it has really helped. She had previously been a very refluxy baby so it all made sense. I am sorry you are struggling with anxiety around the health of your child, sounds like you have good reason to given your past experience, it must have been awful for you. I too have struggled with anxiety, particularly around the health of my children. Last year I referred myself to the mental health team and received cbt, and it has really helped.

Ear spot not war spot!

Ds genuinely gets those spots loads, and always had. He's been extensively blood tested etc and it's thought to be his body tends to react that way to a virus.
They can vary between a single spot-very often on the ear, through to many all over.

Thanks. She woke up this morning with what looks like two more developing on her ear, throughout today it looks like more are appearing on the back of her ear. I’m so worried. Going to take her back to the doctor tomorrow.

Could she have chicken pox? When my dd has them few months back the first ones she had were around her ears and back of neck.
Just saying if it is that the GP might not like you to take them in in case you pass it onto to other children/OAPs that are there.

Fwiw both my kids will say I’ve got bellyache I’ve got a headache - doesn’t mean they have. I know when they are poorly or in pain so just saying it doesn’t cut with me. And at 2 years old and just beginning to talk etc they say things for the fun of it. You’d know if she had bellyache she wouldn’t be running about, she would be holding her tummy, not eating etc. Tests are fine and three GPS have said she’s fine.

Its definitely not chicken pox. My other children had that a couple of years ago. These spots are flat, like under the skin. They do not blanche when pressed.

So sorry OP for what you've been through, absolutely awful!
Not much advice on the spot situation as we got those too and I assume it's the weather causing it
But if tummy hurts you can easily ask for ultrasound to check if some poo is stuck somewhere (can't believe they didn't suggest this tbh!)
Also keep a food diary to check if this happens more in some days than others, dairy could be a trigger

Looks like a zit. I've had them on my ear and sweating in this heat could cause them.

And I had a minor allergic reaction last month and was covered in hundreds of red dots ... my eczema reacting to pollen apparently

Tie her hair up into a high bun tonight before she goes to bed. I'm wondering if its from the heat and her hair rubbing against her ears in the night.

Looks like a pimple to me op. Google is not your friend when it comes to diagnosing stuff. I agree with pp who say 3 drs says she's ok, listen BUT don't just leave it. Give it a couple of weeks and see how she is, then go back.

When i do the glass test it doesn’t disappear. Its still there, got no better. Whatever i read states non blanching red rash/spots are petechiae, that is what concerns me. A pimple would disappear when pressed wouldn’t it?

If you're concerned then speak to a professional. Unless your child is showing signs of being unwell eg lethargic, vomiting, high fever I personally wouldn't worry. But please get help for your anxiety too.

My son gets those to, often it's a mole arriving. Go for reassurance, but try not to worry to much. I know how you feel with HA, one of my Dc was very ill, but recovered, and all have issues. I am really bad with HA right now.

Going to make a doctors appointment for tomorrow. I’m praying so much that its nothing. Dp is getting quite annoyed with me worrying.

It probably is nothing. Really unlikely to be anything at all. But do you, DP and DD a favour and use the appointment to start to tackle the health anxiety.

On the bellyache piece - are you sure she’s not constipated and the loose stools are not just diarrhoea that is making its way around a blockage? Is her tummy soft?

My 3 year old has a bellyache all the time. She is usually hungry or needs a poo! Or we are about to do something she doesn’t want to do

She has had her stomach felt and we’ve been told its soft. Today she did say her belly hurt and then went and hid in her playhouse and did a poo, it was still loose.

I have checked her today when getting her undressed and dressed from playing in the paddling pool and so far no more red spots have shown up.

I am definitely going to seek help for my health anxiety as i cannot live like this anymore. Its not fair on anyone and its making me ill.

It's not fair on anyone. Most of all it's not fair on you. And you can get reassurance about the spot or the bellyache but then next week it'll be something else. You deserve to live without that anxiety. You really do.

That is exactly it and what dp keeps pointing out. He is banning me from using google because its making me worse.

I’m now going over in my head that if she had bloods taken on 14th June which showed as fine, would they really change that soon to not ok? I’m literally driving myself round the bend.
