Hi everyone, my daughter has been suffering with what i call shooty bum pain for years. Mainly at night and she describes it as if someone is getting a big prickle and sticking it up her bum, sometimes her front bits too.
This can keep her awake at night and often wake her. We've seen a consultant who did bloods and a scan of her stomach and all was well , so there seemed little
Point going back to see him but we are again having another episode now and I'm just at my wits end .
Before I ramble on has anyone else experienced anything similar? My daughter was so upset tonight saying how she wishes she was someone else and how she hates going to sleep as she knows the pain will come. She's 10.
Any info / advice will be so welcome, thank you .

Not silly at all , I also thought this nd kept a diary but no link anywhere- it really just seems to be random painful anal
Spasms , but it's horrible to see her in such a state

You said she didn't have it over Christmas, so what was different?

A different food/ drink in the house- treats, cooked breakfast, dried fruits, more meat?

School holidays, no early mornings - stress/ tiredness related?

More or less exercise/ fresh air/ colder/ warmer/ central heating.

Must be so hard but if you can pinpoint something that helped over Christmas, it might over some relief again?

I could have written the original post except my little one is 7. I dread these attacks coming on as I really don't know how to help her. I took her to the GP today who said it was due to muscle tightness causing painful spasms although they didn't specifically give it a name. However, having read about PF it is clear to me that's what it is. She can go months without having any problems and then it will wake her up in the night several nights on the go. Any advice would be appreciated as to what to do for the best when these attacks come on.
