Hi. Has been a long time since ive posted here. My son 11 has severe eczema and just recently his dermatologist prescribed him 2 months of antibiotics and oral Steriods as a form of treatment. He has had many infections for the past years and Im concern that too many antibiotics and Steriods is harming his body. Id like to know if anyone has any experience with homeopathy treatment for eczema, if so would it be covered by the nhs. We live in the london borough of bexley. Ive been googling and is thinking about taking him to see one. However, I would love to know if there are clinics or hospital which specialised in this field.

Because our lives an health are much more complex than that. It's a more sophisticated world view Grin but you seem very sure you're right so, you know, good for you.

I've never had anything other than bafflement from doctors about my approaches to IBS or scoliosis. Certainly no advice on how to manage or improve either condition. Maybe I've just been unlucky. Like the OP and her son.

Night

Yeah, well, your "extensive research" can't have led you to the IBS page of NHS then because there at the very top, it clearly says:

The symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) can often be managed by changing your diet and lifestyle, and understanding the nature of the condition.

As for yoga as treatment for scoliosis, the internet is fully of mainstream medical sources talking about the benefits of yoga for this condition, such as WebMD, Scoliosis Research Society, National Scoliosis Foundation, and many more.

You seem to think that diet & lifestyle changes for IBS and yoga for scoliosis are some alternative treatments that the medical establishment is not aware of. You are mistaken.

Knowing homeopathy is crap does not equate to blinded by GP advice
I am always snotty (was) I found using a Nettie pot and a home made solution worked better than prescribed medicine
My GP was very interested
My DH had a horrible fungal skin infection. A bit of reading found a cure in selsun shampoo
Knowing your condition and researching it is fine. You don't need to do much research to realise homeopathy is bollocks

Yes, I'm very sure I'm right in the specific instance of believing homeopathy is no more effective than placebo, because of the substantial body of fact-based evidence to prove that to be the case.

There's nothing "sophisticated" in continuing to believe something that has been repeatedly and unequivocally disproven. I think you need to substitute the word "mistaken", or possibly "deluded".

Thank you everyone for your time and advice. I have jotted down all the useful information from creams to use to bath salt and acupuncture. I have contacted dr Aron site this morning and will give his number a call on Monday. Im quite looking forward to meeting him because ive seen the views and interviewing of a lady which has given me some hope that ds eczema can be manage at last! I would love to keep everyone updated about the treatment my son is soon to receive. I pray that maybe this time ds will find some happiness once his skin gets better!

I agree. Good luck with finding a treatment that works for your DS.

Thank specialsubject and cote for your support. I know it will take time and perseverance to find the right treatment for chronic eczema. But I feel strong enough this time for what life throws at me. Wishing you both the best too.

Is Dr. Aron still practicising?! Wow, I saw him years and years ago, as a child with a rare and painful skin condition. He's fantastic and worth every penny. Lovely guy too. :)
