She has never liked us wiping her since a baby and now she's three she hates us washing her down there. It does look red sometimes and I took her to the docs who suggested not cleaning it so much and perhaps she's 'sensitive' down there. She hates us wiping it says it hurts. Health visitor said the same. Any advice please? X

Thanks all.

Grace grape, canesten has made it less red but she woke up last night with it again. It seems red around and inside too. It does seem a common thing seeing the replies on here.

She was six. After three months of treatment, is now well under control.

Ok thanks.
We've been to the docs today and she had a good look and said it didn't look too bad, she said it should be red a bit inside. Has done a swab and see what that says. She mentioned it can be an oestrogen thing but didn't say how you deal with that just that it would correct itself at puberty. So I guess I wait for the swab results and go from there. I guess it's more likely something like that as she's always been like it and it comes and goes x

It really annoys me when the doctor dismissively says well it's just one of those things due to damp/warm area and toddler hygiene. I asked one would she be prepared to be bright red and sore!!

mandmsmummy · 19/12/2013 19:52

I agree Flib! Surely us girls have been warm/damp/dripped a bit for decades! X

Maybe do what we have all done at one point or another and pour a jug of water over herself after a wee? My ds had a very sore willy recently after a bit of poor toileting, wet pants etc.

Although it sounds a bit more involved than that.

Cystitis...??

Sounds like you are doing the right thing by making a noise at the gp tbh.

Hope she's better soon op.

Might be sensitive to so many things. I think Avena or some name like this is a good product for sensitive skin. Poor little mite, how miserable for her.
