Joe vs. The Cancer

TrazzleMISTLEtoes · 08/12/2012 23:26

My 3 year old DS, Joseph was diagnosed with the cancer Neuroblastoma in October.

Survival rates are approximately 1 in 3.

He's coming to the end of chemo and so far, chemo is kicking cancer's butt. 3 cheers.

HOpe joe had a peaceful night...you were my first thoughts this morning x

dikkertjedap · 23/02/2013 09:39

Just splodging in to see how Joe is.

Trazzle, good news that you didn't have to go in, I hope you have managed to get some sleep.

narmada · 23/02/2013 09:40

Oh good. Thank goodness. Hope Joe had as good a night as could be expected.

HazzleMcDazzle · 23/02/2013 09:54

Glad you didn't get called in, Trazzle, and really hope you all have a better day today. I've followed your story since Joe's diagnosis and am mostly a lurker, but am sending you all a big Saturday morning hug from deepest Essex.

TeaMakesItAllPossible · 23/02/2013 09:54

That has pure made my Saturday. Lights ablazing in Bath.

Trazzletoes · 23/02/2013 10:01

Sorry, not great news though - he had v low blood pressure overnight (64 over 23!) and narrowly avoided being admitted to intensive care for meds to help raise his bp. It stabilised overnight but is going down again this morning. They think he has a stomach infection and he's on antibiotics for that.

The surgeon doesn't think he has a stomach bleed but they are keeping a very close eye on this with scans etc.

Anxious times.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 23/02/2013 10:03

Trazzles

ninja · 23/02/2013 10:03

Oh Trazzles - gingers firmly crossed here - he sounds so poorly but it's good it's not a stomach bleed.

I'll be thinking of you all day.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 23/02/2013 10:06

Much love darling, big hugs Xx

ToffeeWhirl · 23/02/2013 10:13

So sorry to read this, Trazzle. Another one here who will be thinking of you and Joe all day. X

ForTheLoveOfSocks · 23/02/2013 10:14

Trazzles I've been following from your first thread. Gingers are firmly crossed; and there is a big splodge of light from Stoke on Trent.

Hoping he turns the corner today x

dikkertjedap · 23/02/2013 10:23

What a worry.

But it is good that they are keeping a very close eye on him and are ready to intervene if he needs extra help.

Very much hoping that it is a stomach infection and that the antibiotics they are giving him will start helping as soon as possible with hopefully not too many side effects.

Thinking of all the Trazzles and sending lots of positive thoughts,

x

ShiftyFades · 23/02/2013 10:23

Oh Trazzle, I just don't know what to say but I'm sending you a hug, sending Joe tummy calming vibes and his bp is receiving rising agents through my thoughts.

Much love to you all at this time, it's so hard and unfair xxx

onedev · 23/02/2013 11:18

Such a worrying time - don't know what to say but thinking of you & wishing you all the very best.

Incapinka · 23/02/2013 11:18

Another lurker just wanting to send big splodges from Dorset and virtual hugs. I think of the Trazzles everyday and am keeping gingers crossed. Hope today improves xxx

tholeon · 23/02/2013 11:19

So sorry sweetie, virtual hand squeeze, hope the meds work some magic soon xx

TeaMakesItAllPossible · 23/02/2013 11:19

Oh Trazzle, what a nightmare. Poor little chap and his stomach - I hope that the antibiotics work. May the monitoring continue to make sure that he gets all the treatment and support that he needs.

You and your DH must be exhausted.

A big (((hug))) for you and your whole family.

blizy · 23/02/2013 11:41

Terrazzle, my gingers are crossed for a speedy recovery, poor Joe. I am thinking of you all today and splodging my light. X

Thumbwitch · 23/02/2013 11:53

Trazzle, poor little Joe, so sorry to hear the harshness of what he's going through! I hope they can resolve the latest issues really quickly for him.
And I hope that your gallstones behave themselves! Just what you don't need in amongst everything else.

Splodge of light, crossed gingers and hugs from Down Under. xx

tangledupinpoo · 23/02/2013 13:48

Thinking of Joe, and you all, all the time and willing him, willing him to turn the corner. xx

5madthings · 23/02/2013 14:01

Thinking of you all and sending love and strength xxxx

Trazzletoes · 23/02/2013 14:17

Well I got here at lunch and he sat up and asked to play dominoes!!!!!!!!!!!! Lots of kisses and cuddles Grin I was crying with relief. The nurse couldn't believe it!

Then, of course, he got exhausted, had a nosebleed, had a massive tantrum. Needs to sleep but can't because he's not allowed to suck his thumb (it's got an open sore on it and needs a rest from being bandaged up because its all soggy). He's better than he was but still immensely poorly.

Thumbwitch · 23/02/2013 14:30

That's a lovely start to your visit at least, Trazzle! Can you get him something else to suck? Hope that he continues to improve. xx

Trazzletoes · 23/02/2013 14:32

Not really - he won't even consider the other thumb Grin

MaggieMaggieMaggieMcGill · 23/02/2013 14:40

So glad to hear about the dominoes! Grrr that he can't suck his thumb, poor lambkin. Sending sleepy vibes and fuck cancer vibes xx
