Which bedtime stories did you read this evening?

We had rather poor choices.

Mr Large in Charge - a spin off from a tv show in UK I think? Very stereotyped nonsense about Mr Large being 'amusingly' unable to cope with the children and the housework when his wife is ill in bed for the day. My 4yo thought it was hillarious.

And we had Commotion in the Ocean, which is very popular I know, but I think the rhymes are all a bit contrived. My 2yo loved it.

Did you fare any better?

Before you sleep by Benji Bennett

and another one, probably some crappy Fireman Sam or Toy Story one whatever ds chooses!

YunoYurbubson · 07/07/2010 17:56

No where near bedtime for us here!!! Even when DD was tiny her bedtime hasnever been 6pm - can only miagine how horrendously early my DD would have been awake if I had.

DD is 8y now and normal bedtim ie around 8ish. I will sometimes read to her before bed, she then reads for a while in bed herself. We are currently sharing the reading of Harry Potter - she reads it at home and school, and I sometimes read a few pages at night to her, as she still likes being read to occasionally and I think it is important to do so anyway.

Tonight however is day 1 of 3 of the school play, which starts at 7pm and doesn't finish til 9pm - will be home late and straight to bed.

snickersnack · 07/07/2010 19:54

Riven, I quite like Mr Magnolia! And dd chose it this evening, then I read her a bit of Clarice Bean which was good.

I am, however, sick to death of Charlie and Lola and their visit to the library, and I nearly wept when ds requested "The Smartest Giant in Town" as I have read it to him twice a day for the last fortnight and I now hate it more than ever.

Shaz10 · 07/07/2010 19:54

Dinosaurs Galore (3yr old) and The Cat in the Hat (5yr old). Don't mind either, as there's a bit of a rhythm to them.

thisisyesterday · 07/07/2010 20:03

BFG

itstimmytime · 07/07/2010 20:04

Owl Babies. 'Babies now Mummy' after toothbrushing. Every night. 10 times. At least dd 22 months has the good grace to look surprised and relieved when Mummy comes back. She is now asleep cuddling it!

Sarey1 · 07/07/2010 20:04

Oh god - The Tiger Who Came To Tea, yet again. I don't need to look at the pages now, I know the sodding thing off by heart. But DS still asks for it every night.

AppleAndBlackberry · 07/07/2010 20:06

'That's not my Polar Bear' and 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' to my 11 month old.

QueenofDreams · 07/07/2010 20:09
