The Hungry Caterpillar (I love it too)

cakeywakey · 20/01/2010 21:08

My 2yo DD loves:

The Very Hungry Caterpillar
The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo's Child
Monkey Puzzle
Peace at Last
We're Going on a Bear Hunt

I love storytime, she cuddles up on my lap and joins in with the story. I do find Bear Hunt a bit hard going sometimes though, and have to admit to buying the Gruffalo CDs as well so that I don't have to continually read them

Hope your DD has a lovely birthday

Francagoestohollywood · 20/01/2010 21:09

Maisy
Richard Scarry
Dr Miaow's big emergency

littleducks · 20/01/2010 21:13

I will second:
Peace at Last
We're going on a bear hunt
The Gruffalo

And suggest:
The tiger who came to tea
Olly and Me stories/Alfie and Annie Rose stories (Shirley Hughes)

Chuffinnora · 20/01/2010 21:14

At that age DD and Ds loved any flap or repetitive books. "Where's Pooh", "Going on a Bear Hunt", "Teddy Hunt", DS loved anything with flaps and diggers or tractors. Another vote for Hungry Caterpillar and any Julia Donaldson
DD loved Angelina Ballerina at that age but I'm not sure she's still in fashion?

Also if your DD watches any telly they do love to see their fave characters in a different medium.

SixtyFootDoll · 20/01/2010 21:14

Bear Hunt definitely!

WE like Bob the Spaceman
and the 'Little Bear' sereis

oooggs · 20/01/2010 21:18

Also Guess how much I love you - we still say we love each other to the moon and back every evening.

She also liked Debbi Gliori - No Matter What was a good one.

And anything by Julia Donaldson.

notnowbernard · 21/01/2010 21:55

NOt Now Bernard, of course

charmander · 21/01/2010 22:00

orange pear apple bear

Lionstar · 21/01/2010 22:06

notnowbernard we just discovered the book on our last trip to the library and DD is IN LOVE. She has to have it every storytime, I think we'll actually have to buy it! Your name makes me smile every time I come across it.

Her favourites about the 2 year old stage included:
Hairy Mclairy
Monkey and Me
Fidgety Fish
Owl Babies
Hello Beaky
Dear Zoo

notnowbernard · 21/01/2010 22:12

NNB was dd1's fave book around the time I joined MN, hence the name

Great book

kreecherlivesupstairs · 25/01/2010 11:40

Each peach pear plum
Hairy Maclary
Gruffalo and the Gruffalo's child
Hug (still makes me cry and I can't recycle it)
Dear Zoo
Spot - any and all
Puff the magic dragon. I used to sing this to her to get her to sleep. We saw the book and she was overjoyed. It has a CD too
Too old for these now, but won't get rid of each peach.

BornToFolk · 25/01/2010 11:49

DS is 2.3 and currently loves Each Peach Pear Plum.

He also really likes any lift the flap books like Spot or Dear Zoo.

Anything to do with Thomas the Tank Engine is always a big hit, as are all of the Julia Donaldson ones (but especially The Gruffalo and Charlie Cook's Favourite Book)

There's also a book called "My beak, your beak" that has been read before nap time every day for at least a year!

MissM · 25/01/2010 21:00

Kipper, Kipper and more Kipper. The little Kipper books are nice, and there's a great anthology of about five stories that keeps ours going for ours. We love Kipper!

shivster1980 · 02/02/2010 15:38

Tiger Who Came To Tea
Hairy McClary
Thomas (Egmont Series)
Owl Babies
Guess how much I love you

The Gruffalo/Gruffalo's child
Hungry Caterpillar
We're going on a Bear Hunt
Aliens love Underpants
