Chalet School - plot inconsistency bothering me

I don't know why I suddenly thought of this but perhaps my first 3 consecutive glasses of postnatal wine have brought out my inner dullness.

There is a Chalet School book (Exploits?) where some of the girls bake apple pies and mistakenly use cloves of garlic instead of cloves.

Not believable and silly.

Who was the one who lost all her hair, and then it grew back curly? I want to say Mary Ann, or Mary Jane...

constancereader · 27/10/2008 20:26

I never knew that about Margot! She didn't really did she? I always though she would end up running a nightclub with Emerence and being a disgrace to her family.

mankyscotslass · 27/10/2008 20:26

Robin was too sweet to be true, but Maty Lou set my teeth on edge!

constancereader · 27/10/2008 20:27

Mary=Lou

Habbibu · 27/10/2008 20:27

Mary Lou! Is that the one I'm thinking of?

TotalChaos · 27/10/2008 20:27

That was my recollection of the last book, that the triplets had finished the school and were going to go to Uni in england.

Habbibu - Mary Lou?

Habbibu · 27/10/2008 20:28

Ah. x-posts. I remember the one with kathy Ferrers being pissed off with her, telling them to bend their knees when walking. She was a PITA.

VintageGardenia · 27/10/2008 20:28

lol at Matey, made her life easier having Joey drugged no doubt.

Wouldn't mind DP producing a little Kaffee und Kuchen.

I always think of "Lady Russell" whenever I hear Madonna referred to as "Madge".

I haven't read the last one then TotalChaos, what is it called?

mankyscotslass · 27/10/2008 20:28

Well the idea was she was going to study medicine with the intention of taking orders, having battled her "devil". In one of the follow on I read that did not quite work out.

NorthernLurker · 27/10/2008 20:28

And she tried settlement work and had to be sent to switzerland to recocer!

constancereader · 27/10/2008 20:29

People are always falling off cliffs, or into hidden wells, of nearly drowing in rivers too.

Can you imagine the AIBU threads if mn sent their children to the chalet...?

TotalChaos · 27/10/2008 20:30

Prefects of the Chalet school

Habbibu · 27/10/2008 20:31

Ooh - that would be a good one to start, constance! AIBU to think that schoolgirls should be kept away from thin ice if they have a delicate constitution?

Icanseethesea · 27/10/2008 20:31

Lol constance, every term at least one student had to be brought back from the brink of death - they would have been closed down long ago in RL!

Habbibu · 27/10/2008 20:32

Argh. All mine were sent to the charity shop years ago, and now I want to read them all...

cuttingmeownthroatdibblaaaargh · 27/10/2008 20:32

I read a follow on where it did work out - it was quite a good one - the usual near death experience for Joey though. I did tire somewhat of that as a recurring theme. What I liked about the CS was the food - Kaffee and Kuchen always sounded so good

constancereader · 27/10/2008 20:32

Thanks, I will order it now from Amazon.

Habbibu · 27/10/2008 20:33

What was the rival school called? St Salonika or something?

cuttingmeownthroatdibblaaaargh · 27/10/2008 20:33

And when you look at the prices of CS books now, you really wish that they hadn't gone to the charity shop..

constancereader · 27/10/2008 20:33

AIBU to think that school staff should not drug my daughter without my explicit consent?

VintageGardenia · 27/10/2008 20:33

St Scholastika's
