I found a copy in Oxfam two weeks ago. I loved that ook as a kid, still love it and am looking forward to seeing the film.
Henrietta's House is a gorgeous story too, but can't afford to get a copy at the moment.

differentID · 12/07/2008 21:35

I loved the sub story between Old Parson and Miss Heliotrope- almost Jane Austenesque.

KatyMac · 12/07/2008 21:40

differentID · 12/07/2008 21:41

differentID · 12/07/2008 21:44

It's called The Secret of Moonacre. Dakota Blue Richards (Lyra in The Golden COmpass) is Maria, Tim Curry is Coeur de Lion and Ioan Gruffudd is Sir Benjamin. Due out in Feb next year

OP posts:
differentID · 12/07/2008 21:47

Nothing for wrolf- they'll probably do him mainly CGI

dinny · 12/07/2008 21:49

I'm dreading what they're going to do to it. Are they going to Bowdlerize the massively Christian message throughout the story?

differentID · 12/07/2008 21:50

Black William's descendent?

dinny · 12/07/2008 21:50

AH YES!

OP posts:
differentID · 12/07/2008 21:52

Tim Curry is so going to camp him up isn't he?

dinny · 12/07/2008 21:53

may avoid seeing the film, it'll sooooo ruin the book however good it is, because the book is SO memorable and amazing

Just read that the director did Bridge to Terabithia. Could have some merit.

dinny · 12/07/2008 21:54

ah, I loved that film

OP posts:
differentID · 12/07/2008 21:54

Made me cry a little. I love that film too.

Heathcliffscathy · 12/07/2008 22:01

just love this book. they had an old hardback copy at school that i hankered for.

then someone on mn reminded me of the title as i couldn't remember for the life of me (and all i said was that it was about a girl that lived in a bedroom with a carved stone ceiling with the sun and moon on it)

dh got me paperback for my bday and i loved it a whole 30 years later.

MrsJohnCusack · 12/07/2008 22:01

and Ioan Gruffudd too - yum
