Good books for 1 year old

Please can I have some recommendations for books for 1 year olds - something that DD will enjoy and won't be a one-hit-wonder!

Wibbly pig board books. Also the lift the flap ones.
Kipper also popular.

I think its more important to choose one that won't have you tearing your hair out when you are asked to read it for the four thousandth time!

are you taking her to the library? then she can try a few and you only need buy any particular ones she loves.

at that age dd loved the 'that's not my..' books, anything touchy feely.

Any of the "That's Not My" feely touchy books are great

Good 'stories' plus when you get sick to back teeth of the the 'real' story, lots of good pictures to make up stories/games around. (ds often 'finds' things in the Peepo illustrations rather than being read the text)

DD loved anything with flaps at this age (still does really at almost 3 !) - in particular Dear Zoo. Also M&S did some good ones that had lots of moving bits and these literally got worn out - similar to the 'busy' (eg busy park) series but longer.

ds currently loves a book called "Gorgeous" about a little zebra - has to have it every night and goes looking for it

really good repetition and learning colours,there are others in the series as well.

"Oh Dear" by Rod Campbell. A lift the flap book where Buster has to look all round the farm till he finds the eggs. My dcs are 10 and 7 now but I could probably still recite this off by heart! Also the Spot books by Eric Hill (lift the flap). Look out for the Shirley Hughes "Nursery Collection" books - I think these are available separately as little books but you should be able to get them in one volume - fantastic illustrations!

Those board books which you sing along to and have holes to put your fingers through...Old McDonald, There was an old lady....there are others as well.

Helen Oxenbury has books called things like Hiding, Dressing etc that are ideal for one-year-olds.
I like the American classic Goodnight Moon as well and another American author called Sandra Boynton - here

Second Dear Zoo and the Really hungry catapillar, we are on our second set as DS1 wants them in his room too!

We also love the "its not my" usborne books.

Dig dig digging and choo choo clickerty clak - they have a real rytham to them, as do the Grufello ones

Cock-a-moo-moo, cant remember who its by but my DS absolutely LOVED it.
