Please can I have some recommendations for books for 1 year olds - something that DD will enjoy and won't be a one-hit-wonder!

Brilliant! Thanks for so many suggestions: keep them coming as I'm sure lots of us are looking at Christmas shopping for a little one for the first time with trepidation as well as excitement!

Goodnight Moon
Goodnight Gorilla (both old-fashioned classics that have stood the test of time)

Check out your library catalogue for:

Maisy - Lucy Cousins
Poppy Cat - Lara Jones
Wobble Bear - Ian Whybrow
Any of the Amazing Baby series of books
Collections of nursery rhymes and children's songs
Spot books - Eric Hill
Mr Croc books by Jo Lodge
Woof books - Caroline Jayne Church

My DD is 11 mo and I blog about her reading several times a week, so feel free to check it out (address in my profile)

The Tickle Monster, and Bedtime Bear have been good favourites with our DS for about a year now (DH very bored of them now though)

Coming to this late, but our favourites (as in ones the little one loves and we are happy to read again and again):

Click Clack Moo: Cows That Type
The Ravenous Beast
Anything by Sandra Boynton, but particularly Hippos Go Berserk
