This isn't up for discussion so if you don't think so bog off but I've just read it to dd and I don't know who enjoyed it more, her listening or me reading!

Its a standing joke in our office that this is our bosses favourite book for his DC. He asked me had I got a copy yet when i was 5 months pregnant with my first baby and was shocked when i said no.

LucyJones · 08/10/2007 19:14

whispers

TinyGang · 08/10/2007 19:15

It's brilliant!

DANCESwithHughJackman · 08/10/2007 19:18

NO! The gruffalo isn't a patch on, nowhere near as good. I've just bought dc one about a fish called tiddler who tells stories by Julia Donaldson, read it through quickly in the shop and that seemed really good too.

Awww, I want to be witchandchips...

This will do for now!

MrsArchieTheInventor · 08/10/2007 19:21

DS (just turned 4) can recite Room on the Broom word for word and I even bought him a broomstick, wand and hat with long ginger hair tied in a plait for his birthday and he loves playing with them whilst reciting the story!! He's also nuts on Squash and a Squeeze and the Smartest Giant in Town!!

Fabulous books!! Thoroughly recommended!!

pageturner · 08/10/2007 19:26

Agreed!

DontCallMeBaby · 08/10/2007 19:27

Room on the Broom IS fab, although I must say doing the dragon's voice when I have a sore throat (constantly at this time of year) is hard going. Have bought Tyrannosaurus Drip (Ms Donaldson without Mr Scheffler) today, and that is REALLY hard on the throat, being a series of T-rexes! It's very good though.

Sheherazadethegoat · 08/10/2007 19:29

we listened to the cd on holiday and dh and i ended up driving each other mad singing it.

Lullabyloo · 08/10/2007 19:30

ds hates it......he hates it so much that I had to put it on top of the cupboard
tooooooooooo scary

sfxmum · 08/10/2007 19:33

we are big fans of all Julia Donaldson books in the sfx household.

love Charlie Cook's favourite book

DaDaDa · 08/10/2007 19:33

Gruff-a-lo! Gruff-a-lo! Gruff-a-lo!

ducks the slap and runs off reciting the Gruffalo until he drives himself and DS insane

onlyjoking9329 · 08/10/2007 19:33

my three love this and squash & a squeeze and smartest giant we have to listen to them in the car

oatcake · 08/10/2007 19:34

lullabyloo, I have same problem with ds, almost 6! (He doesn't like the mud 'monster') And it's a shame as it's one of my favourites too!

sfxmum · 08/10/2007 19:34

dd does BUZZ OFF THAT'S MY WITCH very well along with all the HELP

constancereader · 08/10/2007 19:35

I took my class to see the Gruffalo.
Watching their faces was the best thing ever.

Theclosetpagan · 08/10/2007 19:38

I think about it every time I read the MN name "witchandchips" and grin .

Fabulous stuff.

Heated · 08/10/2007 19:40

Love it!

DS & me are now enamoured of Scarface Claw from Hairy Maclary, another one he recites from memory.

Chipstick · 08/10/2007 19:43

Agree here as well - both my children love it. ALthough at the moment it is being left on the shelf in favour of 'When Mum turn't into a monster' - the most fantastic book that my kids laugh all the way through

DaDaDa · 08/10/2007 19:43

Gruff-a-lo! Gruff-a-lo! Gruff-a-lo!

ducks the slap and runs off reciting the Gruffalo until he drives himself and DS insane

DaDaDa · 08/10/2007 19:44

My computer is clearly very insistent on this!

Lullabyloo · 08/10/2007 19:44

i know ....it's such a shame.....we have all of her books & ds absolutely adores them all.......but not that one

oh no
