Some Fretwork and the Interminable Christmas Play at the Chalet School

Now girls, line up and listen because this term is a busy one. Firstly we are combining our hobbies club and the Christmas play, so we will need our fretworkers to get busy on the scenery, some beautiful découpage for decorations, our nimble-fingered needlewomen on costume duty and some scrapbooks for - er...
Now one other thing girls. As you know the Chalet School has moved from the Tyrol, to Guernsey, to Armishire, to some island or other and thence to Switzerland.
This term we have moved again and the first thing I want you to do is to find out where the bloody hell we are....

Can someone please send me the details of the online books as well? Just saw this thread, and am desperate to re-read.

spinabifidamom · 27/09/2018 20:11

This brings back memories for me.

ChimpiestoftheChimps · 04/10/2018 21:02

Hello new chums! I've just found this jolly thread, whilst attempting to sew in my new name labels for me and my thousands of brothers (because I am after all a girl and so this is clearly my job).
What fun to see so many girls with pansy eyes and chestnut/bronze/golden fairy princess curls, all in their gentian tunics!
I've brought some tuck with me - I hope you all like seedcake and homemade jam. I'm hoping Frau Mieders will be able to teach me some new recipes and we don't have any new escapades in the Dommy Sci lab resulting in a school legend!!
Would someone please be able to send me access to the onedrive transcripts?! I've been rereading the series but am suddenly aware of how disappointingly cut the Armada ones are!!!

publishGoodbooks · 09/10/2018 12:50

I found the thread a couple of weeks ago as well and need a prefect to chivvy me along to the one drive account!
My school library had copies of the old prints. Nothing in any library now!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 09/10/2018 13:38

A One drive account? I have not heard of this (clearly I have fallen well behind in my prep, and should be in detention). Blush

Can I do a bit of singing in the Christmas play - I don't quite have Joey's mellifluous tones, but am not bad.

MargiaStevens · 18/10/2018 18:06

Sorry I’m late, Herr Anserl kept me again! And in all the rush I can’t remember where I put either my music or the OneDrive login...

Bloodybridget · 19/10/2018 16:23

I've sent the login details to various people. Can I be promoted to prefecthood for Outstanding Helpfulness?

pontefractals · 19/10/2018 16:44

Isn't that the Therese Lepattre prize? Yes, certainly. Especially if you also send me the details - a kind soul sent them earlier but I couldn't get in at the time (think it was playing up) and now I've lost them again!
Thank you!

CatherineMaitland · 19/10/2018 18:29

I shall ring the bell and give a vote of thanks in my beautiful voice, Bloodybridget.

Bloodybridget · 19/10/2018 21:29

(Preens, blushes, falls over)

publishGoodbooks · 20/10/2018 18:40

I'll nominate you for any of the scholarships Bloodybridget! Thanks.

ChimpiestoftheChimps · 21/10/2018 22:27

Absolutely, I think you get a unanimous vote for the margot venables scholarship (or whichever one it is!) AND probably headgirlship into the bargain.... Unless there's a pesky Maynard/Russell/bettany in your year.

Bloodybridget · 22/10/2018 03:34

Gosh, how kind! Oh no - use of slang - I've ruled myself out of any responsible position for the next ten years!

MarievonEschenau · 24/10/2018 21:34

Bloodybridget, your use of slang really is the outer limit! But I do think you are wizard to share the OneDrive login with all these tiresome Middles. Might you mind doing the honours yet again? I’m up to Shocks, and can’t get any further without spending the thirty shillings that Mummy gave me before packing me off on the train...Thanking you.

Bloodybridget · 25/10/2018 01:12

Marie of course! I'll get onto it after the rising bell tomorrow - can't risk going downstairs now in case Matron hears me!

MarievonEschenau · 25/10/2018 08:13

You are a brick! How is the Christmas play coming along? Has Plato lost his mind yet at all the awful singing? I expect I’m too late for a part, but I’m happy to brush my hair until it shines and help all the nice young doctors to their seats in the audience.

publishGoodbooks · 27/10/2018 13:04

My role in the play will definitely have to be administrative! I can ‘ably assist’ Marie if she will allow me.

MarievonEschenau · 29/10/2018 23:02

Oh yes, that would be splendid. We can wear our brown velvet evening dresses... although with all the getting changed we have to do, it’s a wonder we ever have time for lessons... Do we have a cast for the play? Is the Head Girl playing Mary again? And who’s got the rich contralto for Stille Nacht? Own up.

ChimpiestoftheChimps · 30/10/2018 07:57

A rich contralto, or a bird like chorister voice? Not me, I'm afraid. I'll be a cheeky scamp I think, probably some impoverished urchin on the children's crusade or similar. Should be a jolly play if only there isn't a fire, or a member of the cast getting mumps, or an avalanche...

Chickenpie9 · 14/11/2018 20:08

Can anyone send me details of One Drive ? I had made a thread about finding some old paperbacks in a secondhand shop and now became obsessed all over again

Bloodybridget · 17/11/2018 22:20

I've sent you a PM Chickenpie

Catinabeanbag · 19/11/2018 13:36

May I also have details for onedrive? Have a few CS books in paperback, but there are lots I've not read.

For anyone interested, there's a lot of CS fan fiction on the Sally Denny Library (currently not available to join, but you read everything on there without logging in), and also on Lime Green Musing (need an account to read / browse).

The Chalet School Bulletin Board (The CBB) was the original host of some of the fiction, but it all got a bit large so the other sites were set up. There are archives of some of the older stories, accessible via the CBB, which you can also browse without needing an account.

Bloodybridget · 19/11/2018 20:26

Catinabeanbag I've sent you a PM.

GertrudetheFifth · 19/11/2018 23:01

Please could I have the one drive details? Have finally read Rivals in the GGBP edition, and now want to re-read the other early books.

Bloodybridget · 21/11/2018 17:40

Sent via PM, Gertrude.
