World Book Day costumes - share pics of this year's costumes to win a bumper crop of WBD goodies.

In case you haven't heard, it's World Book Day next week and we want to know what inspired (or desperate) costume feats are you going to pull off this year. Upload your pictures to this thread and we'll pull out a winner from the Mumsnet WBD Hat on Monday 9th March.

The winner will receive an array of Dear Zoo goodies including: bundle of signed books, book and toy set, finger puppet set, mini backpack, plastic craft apron, socks and a bowl, plate, mug set and for older readers we have a set of signed Goth Girl books and a set of signed Geek Girl books plus red sparkly Geek Girl glasses. And of course a full set of the £1 books.

This year DD2 is Gaiana from Jedi Academy but my favourite WBD costume was when she was Mr Gum

My daughter is going as the butterfly from monkey puzzle. Think it took longer to hand stitch it all, then how long she'll be wearing it lol

Ds1 as the cat in the hat and ds2 as Harry Potter.

I love the randomness of WBD, walking to school with a dragon, on a scooter, wearing a coat. My DD went as a dragon from ZOG.

You managed a photo? I had one child having a tantrum all morning because his Grandma muddied his costume to make it look more authentic (he went as Tom chimney sweep from The Water Babies) His teacher had to coax him out of my car. The other one went as Tinkerbell and arrived in a pink and green dress with pink glittery wings and a pink faux fur bolero proudly clutching Peter Pan only to find all her classmates in forest school gear. Epic fail.

Katie Morag and her younger sister Katie Toerag. 3 weeks of knitting in, DD1 thought she might change her mind and be Mildred Hubble. She changed her mind back (presumably when she saw the look on my face) and was very happy with her costume this morning!

Jake is Henry, Luke is the pirate! They didn't do dressing up last year and only gave us one day's notice hence the cobbled together look!

My Son has gone as the Tiger who came to tea. I'm not the most creative when it comes to outfits but I made a small effort in making the tiger food tin!

DD loves the Wizard of Oz (and new shoes!) so she has gone as Dorothy. She loves her red sparkly shoes and is already planning to re-use the costume when we go to see Wicked next month.
