Dd would like to read a detective/ crime novel! I don't know of any other than famous five or Sherlock Holmes which she isn't impressed with. I think she would like something a bit more modern . Any ideas please?

The Phillip Pullman series about a Victorian girl who's a sort of detective might be suitable? Ruby In The Smoke I think the first one is called. Not sure if they might be a bit 'old' for a ten year old tho.

She might like John Grisham's http://www.amazon.co.uk/Theodore-Boone-John-Grisham/dp/1444714503/ref=sr_1_2_bnp_1_pap?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1378068431&sr=1-2&keywords=theodore+booneTheodore Boone series about a 13 year old boy who wants to be a lawyer like his parents. They are very much a modern reworking of the oldfashioned child detective stories. My younger two (11 and 13) love them.

I have read the Philip Pullman Ruby books and definitely think they are a bit old for a 10yr old.

I am not sure really about the books i have mentioned above. I know ds read them all when he was about 13 but dont know the full contents.

There is also some books by Harlen Colben about Myron Bolitars nephew Mickey but again considered young adult.

Dd likes the Grisham Theidore Boon series & she also likes No 1 Ladies Detective Agency. Sho doesn't like Agatha Christie though I did at her age.
