What are your weekend food & drink plans?

I love food and drink. What are you planning to consume this weekend?

Today I had fruit and yoghurt, cappuccino, chicken wrap and planning to have spicy sausages with homemade cheesy croquettes and corn on the cob. Plus loads of wine.

Your dinner sounds delicious!
Have been having egg, mushroom and spinach for breakfast as have been trying to increase my exercise levels (today I walked 10 miles). Lunch was a halumi salad wrap and dinner is a finest Kiev with green veg. No wine today as I shared a bottle of bubbles yesterday.
There’s a new Middle Eastern opened nearby that we might try tomorrow, and Sunday we are out for pub lunch with friends.

plantsandwich · 18/09/2026 19:20

I had home-made seiten for lunch with pepper sauce.

Made a huge salad for dinner with roast chickpeas, faux chicken pieces, cucumber, corn, olives, cherry tomatoes and hummus dressing.

Rice cakes and hummus later and then warm butter beans with salt and olive oil and chilli.

I might have a 'junk food day' tomorrow (I weight train 6 days a week).

You do realise people with kids eat too, you could have posted this in Chat.

No because I love all of it (and it depends what I am convince DH to ‘share’)
Most likely bread with the ezme salad and dips to start, those pomegranate soaked onions, and then some combo of chicken/lamb kebab on rice and salad. The one we usually go to has the BEST bread with a sort of red slightly spicy/sweet paste on it (it’s not pul biber, and we haven’t managed to persuade them to tell us the recipe yet), and tbh this is determines which one we favour.

I’ve made Ixta Belfrage’s Prawn Lasagne with Habanero Oil for lunch tomorrow. We have friends coming over. I’m making a green salad to have with it and baked figs for dessert.
I am vegan so having king oyster mushrooms cooked in the habanero oil with the salad.

Oh wow I'm salivating! Wish I had something like this near me

Tonight I've made chicken laksa, been lazy and used the slow cooker and taken every shortcut possible! It was absolutely delicious and I'll be having leftovers for brunch tomorrow.

Tomorrows dinner is keema aloo, similar vibes of the slow cooker doing it all. Will have it with basmati rice and we'll share a paratha and a kachumber salad.

Sundays lunch will be leftover keema, with cheese in a wrap using the crimpit to seal it all before chucking it in the air fryer and having it with the leftover salad and some yoghurt and mint sauce. I'm planning to make a minced beef round/pie with mash, carrots, peas and tsb for dinner . Breakfast will be some of those part baked dinner rolls filled with bacon and brown sauce.

My husband is away till tomorrow evening so my friend came over and she bought takeaway tonight. I'm not much of a cook avd have only a little appetite so I'll probably just have some oven chips tomorrow till my husband gets home. He usually does the cooking.

This sounds so good, I love keema but never been good at making it

Today I drove for 25 mins to the nearest Waitrose and bought a Gressingham poussin (tiny chicken, I'm single). Cooked it with sautéed potatoes and served it with a garlic, tarragon, brandy and cream gravy cooked with the chicken juices.

Tomorrow I'll eat the other breast with decent crusty bread and butter in a sandwich. Sunday I'll make a proper chicken stock with root vegetables and onion and then make a soup. Suggestions for what flavours to add are welcome. I have sweetcorn in the fridge...

CleanSkin · 18/09/2026 22:11

Oh my word @CrystalSingerFan today’s meal sounds delicious, as does the sandwich. And I’m really impressed that you’ve got 3 meals out of a poussin - at the same time, of course, as expecting at least that from a magical mini chicken!
We had pork pie, cold new potatoes & home made coleslaw for dinner. I had proper porridge, blueberries & figs for lunch, so tasty. Not sure about the weekend yet, possibly a CB paella on Saturday & maybe a simple roast on Sunday - depends how hungry we are!

There are so many inspiring meals here, in particular I must up my game with lunches!

Sunbringer · 18/09/2026 22:14

I’m making lunch for my best friend. I’m cooking rice with dates, herbs and caramelised onions under chicken legs covered in a blackberry and honey glaze with a tomato salad (of tomatoes I grew my self).

Dessert is baked cheesecake topped with figs and honey. Supper will be my homemade sourdough bread with French onion soup.

I wish I could find damsons somewhere. Everything in late summer should be sticky, sweet, golden unctuousness as the season begins to die.

Thanks! I'm trying to compete with Mumsnet's historical/mythical chicken feeding a family of four for a week. 😀

Love the sound of your homemade coleslaw. And the time for proper porridge is arriving. I went on a cruise where it was served every day, with cooked apple and cinnamon and a fruit coulis available as sides. Loved it.

Bacon sandwich and coffee this morning, not sure today, either chicken satay which i have ingredients for or go out, pub this evening for a band (as usual)

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 19/09/2026 16:04

Tea.
toast and butter
banana. May finish some strawberries.
potential for porridge, with apple butter and toffee sauce.

CleanSkin · 19/09/2026 18:17

@CrystalSingerFan we’ve cruised with porridge & fruit too - chilly Scandinavian tours are much better with a bellyful of the good stuff 😋

Coldslaw was v simple & just made with fridge ingredients; a couple of grated carrots, 1/3 shredded sweetheart cabbage, 4 shallots & a grated eating apple. Squeeze of fresh lemon (leftover from G&Ts and looking for a purpose) and a generous quantity of Hellmans. So fresh & virtuous, it almost made up for the pork pie!

Best wishes for your remaining poussin pieces.
