In my experience, the most vitriolic criticism I get and see towards other CF women like me comes from men, typically conservative men and this instance is just once example.
A 29-year old woman posted a TikTok about her free and easy Saturday after a late night at a Beyonce concert the night before. She had a lie-in, planned a rewatch of the Real Housewives and learning to cook a new recipe.
She described in her video how she was enjoying her free and easy day and appreciating where she was in life-even if it wasn't where she thought she'd be at 29 or where society thought she should be.
Matt Walsh, with the Daily Wire, a right-wing, Christian conservative decided to take her innocent TikTok video and share it to his 2.4m X (formerly Twitter) followers and called her "stupid" and her life "depressing," as it didn't revolve around a "family."
His followers proceeded to send her death threats and abuse. He has only doubled down on his statements.
I wish I could say that he was an isolated incident-but it's really not. Anytime a woman, and it's always a woman, shares how happy and free she is without children on SM, men like to spend their time telling that woman she'll die alone with cats (don't threaten us with a good time) how miserable she obviously is and everything is else is just "cope."
This is coming from a man who, among his co-hosts at the Daily Wire, admits he can't do his own laundry or dishes and has six kids who his wife, no doubt, has to do all the care for.
So many men want to tell women how to live our lives and are mad when they can't or when they see a woman who is living her life for her, and not in service of a man or his kids.
