Why is so much of the judgement towards CF people from conservative men?

In my experience, the most vitriolic criticism I get and see towards other CF women like me comes from men, typically conservative men and this instance is just once example.

A 29-year old woman posted a TikTok about her free and easy Saturday after a late night at a Beyonce concert the night before. She had a lie-in, planned a rewatch of the Real Housewives and learning to cook a new recipe.

She described in her video how she was enjoying her free and easy day and appreciating where she was in life-even if it wasn't where she thought she'd be at 29 or where society thought she should be.

Matt Walsh, with the Daily Wire, a right-wing, Christian conservative decided to take her innocent TikTok video and share it to his 2.4m X (formerly Twitter) followers and called her "stupid" and her life "depressing," as it didn't revolve around a "family."

His followers proceeded to send her death threats and abuse. He has only doubled down on his statements.

I wish I could say that he was an isolated incident-but it's really not. Anytime a woman, and it's always a woman, shares how happy and free she is without children on SM, men like to spend their time telling that woman she'll die alone with cats (don't threaten us with a good time) how miserable she obviously is and everything is else is just "cope."

This is coming from a man who, among his co-hosts at the Daily Wire, admits he can't do his own laundry or dishes and has six kids who his wife, no doubt, has to do all the care for.

So many men want to tell women how to live our lives and are mad when they can't or when they see a woman who is living her life for her, and not in service of a man or his kids.

Childfree Woman Makes Post about Lazy Sat...She set off the Conservatives 😬😬

@Julia Mazur had the NERVE to have a lazy Sat after a Beyonce concert and she had the Conservative side of social media come for her. #childfree #childfreeby...

That's what conservative men believe in - 'traditional' values/families.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 09/09/2023 08:14

Anecdotal but I've said on here the worse haranguing I had about not having children was from a man. It's almost as if it's some affront to their masculinity that we don't want to reproduce with them.

CleverLilViper · 09/09/2023 08:25

I understand that but these men only reserve their ire and vitriol for women. They never go after deadbeat dads or men who don’t want kids.

The funny thing is that this particular woman hasn’t even said she doesn’t want kids or marriage. She just said she doesn’t have them yet and it still made the conservative men piss themselves in outrage.

Probably they were just as enraged by the fact that she wasn't spending her Saturday running around with a duster in her hand and facilitating some bloke's life. That used to be my Saturday and thank God I'm out.

I don’t know whether it’s naivety on my part, but the level of criticism aimed at women and thee facts that so little prompts rape/death threats does still shock me.

At some level though I guess- those men sending rape threats know that she is better off learning a new recipe than spending time with them.

KimberleyClark · 09/09/2023 09:57

Pope Francis, an obviously conservative male is not backward in FOMO g forward Regis views on women and couples who choose not to have children.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 09/09/2023 10:02

I read the article and she's unfazed by all the vitriol. And ironically for all the haterzzzzz, she wants children, just not right now. She sounds level headed and sensible about not rushing into marriage and motherhood until she feels it's right for her.

But yeah, god forbid a woman should enjoy herself just being herself.

fitzwilliamdarcy · 09/09/2023 10:21

They attack women because every woman who lives the childfree single life is, in their heads, depriving a man of his right to family and a live-in domestic servant. They don’t attack men because a man will hopefully secure his own servant in time and his family will follow. In the meantime he’s not doing anything wrong.

They do the same thing with lesbians, trust me. It’s about the fact that they’re making themselves inaccessible to be used by men.

The only things men can’t do to fulfil the family values they’re always spouting about is: marry themselves and get themselves pregnant. Women who refuse to date them, marry them, and make their babies, are actively hostile to them and their values.

OutsideLookingOut · 09/09/2023 13:34

I always wonder why the choose the most inoffensive child free women to attack too? There are far more vocal, unrepentant and even (nasty to parents) TikTok’s but they usually don’t highlight these why?

MidnightOnceMore · 08/09/2023 22:44

Why don’t they attack men just existing and not out to get a wife? This women said she doesn’t have kids ‘yet’. Surely she is more traditional than the people who say they never would and have offensive videos about children and parents!

Yes, I thought a bit of this and also Incel type vibes.

Lelophants · 09/09/2023 15:55

It’s awful. If anything, it shows he’s ‘losing‘ if he has to resort to that.

I agree it’s not all conservative men though. You can like the idea of traditional family values and not enforce it on others. Well, at least that’s how it should be.

Because they want women to keep being their live in unpaid servants and they're much more likely to do that if they have kids.

Our own Tory Government were moaning a few months back that the birth rate is dropping

The same fucking political party spent decades telling people people like me who live in social housing not to have kids that they cant afford
Perhaps they should be more careful what they wish for.

Middlelanehogger · 11/09/2023 22:35

@fitzwilliamdarcy It’s about the fact that they’re making themselves inaccessible to be used by men.

This is a slightly unfair characterisation of stay-at-home mothers, or mothers in general, don't you think?

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 12/09/2023 09:25

You only have to read a few threads on here (and not necessarily in relationships) to see that a lot of men DO regard the woman in their life as a glorified domestic appliance whose sole function, when she's not child wrangling, is to go around washing, cleaning, picking up and organising while they get on with their lives. There's one today about a poster who threw her partner's clothes in the bin because she was so sick of seeing them lying around, and she's being scolded for it. So not only do some men see women as there to be used, so it appears, do some women.

Now I'm not saying that relationships is representative of relationships as a whole. By definition the reasonably happy/rubbing along just fine/he drives me nuts sometimes but I love the bones of him/we have an equal partnership and he pulls his weight people are not going to be posting - but for every one who does, I wonder how many women are sitting there nodding in agreement thinking yup, mine's the same, now I come to think of it.

Like I've said before. The biggest grief I've had about not having children has come from men. At some level it seems to be seen as a personal insult to them.

JenniferBooth · 12/09/2023 13:30

@MrsDanversGlidesAgain there was a poster on here years ago who was fed up with her husband leaving dirty crockery lying around so she shoved it in the boot of his car

What, all of them? Did you do a survey? What were the results? Is this published anywhere?

As I don't remember it. And I can't stand Matt Walsh. He steals women's work, passes it off as his own and is a raging misogynist to boot.

threeblindmouse · 06/11/2023 21:55

Because those men think that and serving them domestically and sexually is all women are really for? They don't care about what you have to say or express creatively, what you actually want for yourself or what you have to contribute to the world. To them "the world" is their domain and you as a woman do not belong. They don't see you as fully human but as a kind of appendage, as empty headed and emotional who will only suffer if you don't fulfil your biological destiny as a mother. Consider this quote by Arthur Schopenhauer

“Women are directly fitted for acting as the nurses and teachers of our early childhood by the fact that they are themselves childish, frivolous and short-sighted; in a word, they are big children all their life long—a kind of intermediate stage between the child and the full-grown man,”

That is truly how some men still see women, it reminds me of the flatmate I had at university who when I asked him why he never cleaned up said he liked to leave it to me because I "enjoyed cleaning" he really thought it was a kind of hobby for me and not because unlike him I didn't want to live in a filthy hovel. Men cast women as idiots because it suits them, it allows them easily to offload all the shit work on to women and take no responsibility.

My old male flatmate dropped out of uni after failing his 3rd year, I graduated with a first, went on to do a masters and he is still working in a call centre. No because he was unfairly treated by a pro-woman education system but because he was a lazy, entitled arse lacking in intelligence and character. Perhaps if he has not had so many brilliant young women as competition he might have got away with his poor efforts at university and life.

Men cannot cope with women besting them so comprehensively and so they seek to put us back in our box, to shame and scare us into motherhood and servitude to men again. Luckily we are all too smart to fall for their desperate lies.
