Morning!

We were battered by Storm Betty last night but it is a lovely morning here so first plan is to open all windows and the back door to freshen up the house.

DH is heading out for a few hours this morning/early afternoon.

I am just getting over 3 weeks of a really horrible cold/virus which wasn't covid but felt like it, so planning a morning of cleaning out my kitchen (ahead of a lot of DIY kitchen-ing when DH gets home). We are slowly renovating our house.

So nothing too exciting but glad to feel better!

Anyone doing anything fabulous?

Good morning! Horses trashed a fence last night so I've spent the last two hours repairing it. The builders left this week after a 15 week renovation so we had earmarked this morning to get all the furniture and other stuff cleaned and back into some sort of order. Having a break now and will crack on with that in a bit.

IrritableVowel · 19/08/2023 10:20

I would love horses but they are a big commitment. Two dogs are enough for us for now. And also ignoring the fact we live in a city and have 0 horse experience. Gorgeous animals though.

We should have got builders/trades to do out jobs, but hindsight is a wonderful thing

Would love to be at the stage of it all being done!

I'm going to read a book and cook a steak for lunch. I'm not sure what to do this afternoon but it will probably involve a nap!

IrritableVowel · 19/08/2023 10:34

Love a nap.

I'm heading to the gym shortly for a session with my PT, then into Covent Garden to battle through the tourists to have my hair highlighted hide the greys coming through. Thinking I may buy myself an extortionately overpriced patisserie on my way home. Currently mulling that over with a coffee and a face mask.

Baldieheid · 19/08/2023 11:37

I'm just pottering at home, playing with the cats and making flapjack. Cleaning to do this afternoon and then some loafing on the sofa watching TV or reading whilst a chicken casserole does its thing in the slow cooker.
Nowt exciting, just peace and quiet.

IrritableVowel · 19/08/2023 12:48

Have tidied upstairs, sorted about 25 loads of washing to do, and cleaned kitchen.

Now on sofa with a coffee and 2 snoozing dogs, watching trash tv and thinking about lunch

I've had a lie in, walked the dogs, done my barre workout, and now going to get hair and nails done. I'll then need to put fresh bedding on the spare room bed as mum and her boyfriend staying over. We're then going into Chester for cocktails and a meal. Will no doubt have a very lazy day tomorrow 😴

Flank · 19/08/2023 16:26

I just saw this and it sums up my afternoon quite well 😂

JorisBonson · 19/08/2023 22:22

I went to see La Cage Aux Folles today (so gos, recommended) and had a few beers with DH when I got back to our area. Lovely Saturday!

JorisBonson · 19/08/2023 22:22

Good*

countdowntonap · 19/08/2023 22:25

@Flank that is most of my weekends! Today I’ve done a dance class, walked 4 miles, doing an intense spinning workout at the gym… and then balanced that out with reading on the sun lounger in the garden, and going out for cocktails. All round good day!

BarelyLiterate · 19/08/2023 22:38

DP is away this weekend, so I had a spontaneous day out in London today, on my own, just because I felt like it. I drove down & parked for free in St John’s Wood, had coffee & a pastry at a nice café, walked down through Regent’s Park into the West End & did some shopping, then dumped it back in the car, went for another nice walk & had a lovely late lunch in the sunshine followed by a trip round Harrods food halls. I got home about an hour ago (knackered) & just opened a bottle of wine.
Tonight will be a late one, followed by a lie in tomorrow morning, then I will watch the Lionesses (hopefully) win the World Cup! 🦁🦁🦁

IrritableVowel · 20/08/2023 10:16

Sounds lovely @BarelyLiterate

I ended up meeting DH in our local at 4pm for a couple of drinks and early dinner. Then home to watch rugby and spent the evening watching the new episodes of Only Murders in the Building

No plans for today yet, he is still in bed and I am lying on the sofa browsing MN

I wish! I have to take DCat1 to the vet for a blood pressure check. It’s hard to do for cats because just being at the vet sends their pressure up. This is on top of having her there yesterday for other tests. I’ve also got to get the groceries. Right now I’m hoping to have today and Sunday OFF, it’s been appointments every day this week.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 25/08/2023 08:43

Two big rugby matches this weekend so might go to Greenwich tomorrow to see an exhibition at the Queen's House. Your's last weekend sounds good, @BarelyLiterate . Meeting DB for lunch on Sunday to hear ongoing DN job/uni saga 🙄

This weekend will be mainly spent at the beach, shall I try and learn to surf? It looks so easy… 😂

Edited

I'll also be in Greenwich tomorrow. I'm attending a friend's wedding (postponed several times due to Covid) which will be a VERY lively affair right by the river. My main worry is footwear as my trainers are pretty much surgically attached to my feet and I'm not sure I still have a pain threshold capable of spending 9 hours in Jimmy Choos. And whether my hat will fall off. 😂

Then on Sunday I'm going away for a few days to a lovely AirBNB in Rye (where I've stayed before) so looking forward 😜to sitting in bank holiday traffic in my little two seater sports car.

Thank you! I won't know for a few days at least, I'm waiting for blood test results.

Adult ds2 is home for Bank Holiday. Going to the theatre to see a great comedy with DH and both DC, and also for a walk around a beautiful local NT place. Helping DS with job applications and doing some healthy cooking. Caught up with a friend for a walk today and had a family film night this evening. All very chilled.

IrritableVowel · 26/08/2023 09:15

Hope your cat is OK @Catsmere

I love hearing all your plans, it gives me wee visuals of people doing lovely things.

Met my dear pal for dinner and a concert last night, home about midnight so not too late.

DH is at his dad's for weekend so today I am going to blitz the house and chat to the dogs

Thank you @IrritableVowel (love your username btw) - won’t know till her blood results come back next week. She was a Good Girl at the vet this morning getting her pressure done, and is curled up snoozing now.

That sounds like a lovely evening with your friend!

Laurdo · 29/08/2023 15:41

Last weekend we went to the Leeds Festival. No plans this weekend but we've just booked tickets for a Pink Floyd by candlelight concert with an orchestra in a beautiful venue. Total contrast to last weekend haha! Very much looking forward to getting dressed up and spending some quality time with DH.

JorisBonson · 30/08/2023 13:16

I had a bit of a travel nightmare last weekend and missed a planned day out with DH on Monday so I'm not venturing far this weekend!

I want a long lie and breakfast in a cafe. Going away in 2 weeks so on a minimal spend trip. Our local cinema is doing £3 tickets on Saturday so might go there.

Sunday MIL is coming round for a roast 🙃

Lottapianos · 09/09/2023 08:01

Morning all! Will be trying not to melt mostly 🤦🏻‍♂️ going for lunch with a (fellow childfree) friend later. I'm in London and it will be 33 degrees this afternoon. Thankfully there will be aircon on the train and in the restaurant so I will survive

Tomorrow will be gym, grocery shopping and lunch with DP - more aircon! It's very rare that I'm looking forward to the weekend coming to an end but honestly, roll on those lovely cooler temperatures next week!
