Do the same people saying we have a population decline stress about boats on the channel?

On the topic of mint, it needs water which is why it flourishes in the UK. In France mine regularly keels over and needs emergency treatment.

I once killed a spider plant…

CyanCrystalViolet · 30/06/2023 12:16

I've managed to kill my beloved orchard which had flowered three times. I think I overwatered it, very sad.

hilariousnamehere · 30/06/2023 12:16

@Catsmere Grin

@AlisonDonut ahh that might actually be where I'm going wrong, am rubbish at watering and my garden is in full sun from dawn to 6pm 🙈

CyanCrystalViolet · 30/06/2023 12:16

Orchid not orchard!! Although I could well kill an orchard too.

And here I was highly impressed that you'd managed to kill a whole orchard!

I'm on my third spider plant. I keep using the same pot as if to write over my previous failures.

On a previous thread about population decline I pointed out that some of the highest birth rates in the UK came from people with middle eastern and asian heritage and perhaps we should be welcoming refugees from Syria and Afghanistan with open arms.

There was deafening silence. Although in fairness a lot of MN is pro immigration/refugees so it probably got lost in the thread but I do think there are a minority who when they talk about increasing the birth rate they mean the white baby birth rate

I love this thread.

I'm spending my childfree Sunday binge watching Manifest on Netflix accompanied by a snoring dog.

Earlier on I made a couple of loaves of bread and planted out some basil and coriander seedlings.

My OH is out all day with his hobby, which I don't hate him for as he hasn't left me on my own to look after 3 children under 5. Or something.

This evening we will grill some homemade spicy burgers to eat with lettuce, rocket and beans, all from the garden.

As you can all tell, I terribly regret my life choices. 😁😆😉

I want to try making bread, what kind did you make? I like the look of those really pretty focaccia breads I’ve seen on TikTok, but I’m not sure if that’s suitable for a beginner 😂

TrundleWheel76 · 02/07/2023 15:11

@Pinkdrums I made wholemeal bread, I followed a standard recipe using a mix of strong white bread flour and wholemeal bread flour, yeast, honey, salt, olive oil and warm water. I have a kitchen aid to do the kneading which makes it much less effort.

I make all our bread and have done for years. I also make naan, pizza bases, flat bread, etc. I haven't tried one of the focaccia breads although they do look beautiful. I'm more of a slapdash baker so doubt mine would look as good! 😁

That sounds delicious, I’m jealous now 😂 I’ll have to give it a try.

TrundleWheel76 · 02/07/2023 15:33

@Pinkdrums

You definitely should, it's a lot easier than people think. 🙂

CyanCrystalViolet · 02/07/2023 16:27

I love making bread but it’s been too hot to have the oven on (open plan kitchen/living room). I’ll make some next week if the weather stays cooler, might even have a go at focaccia.

TrundleWheel76 · 02/07/2023 16:42

We should all have a go at focaccia and then post photos!!

This one looks like a safe bet.

That looks great, let's do it!!

TrundleWheel76 · 02/07/2023 17:26

I will start a new thread 🙂

Biffatcrafts · 02/07/2023 18:36

I'll do the focaccia too, if I can find the right flour. I've no idea what that particular type of flour is in spanish, but since I have soooo much free time I can spend a couple of hours wandering the supermarket isles and googling various translations. Might stop for a coffee and cake too 😂

I am watching the F1 highlights with homemade pizza and a glass of red wine. Viva la Bread Maker.
